Love the RC51, I always regret not buying one of these back when they came out. Still looks better than the vast majority of superbikes out today.

Thanks man, yeah I remember staring (drooling) at them in the dealership. I never pulled the trigger on a new one but there are still plenty of low mileage used ones out there. It's not too late 😀. Thanks for the comment!

The RC51 is not my fastest or most comfortable but it is so much fun to ride. The three things that I think make it so fun is 1) the sound on acceleration, deceleration, cruising, it doesn't matter, it just sounds great. 2) the brakes are just so solid with very little lever action and 3) the gearbox is like butter, I can shift like a champ with this gearbox, such a joy.

Nice bikes. I just found a 2003 rc51 and it was a lucky find. At a big yard sale owned by an 81 year old woman. Her husband bought it new. He passed 9 years ago and the bike sat since then in his shop. Only had 5600 miles on it. I asked the woman what she wanted for it and she told me if I help her cut her firewood that was in her yard I could pay her a thousand dollars for it. Best deal I’ve ever gotten. I changed fluids and tires and new battery l. Cleaned the fuel system and it fired right up. Sounds amazing. Her husband must have been quite the guy he was a retired navy pilot and raced boats. There was also a hydroplane sitting on its side in the shop. The woman was super sweet to me and my kiddos and said she was glad I enjoyed the bike

Dude that's an awesome find and super cool story. Seems like lots of older guys were buying the RC51, they knew it was something special!

The Duc sounds fantabulous! I’ve had a 999R and a Paul Smart Edition Duc. I am hoping to pick up a RC51 SP1 this weekend. Looking forward to getting on a V-Twin again. BEAUTIFUL BIKES!

Both beautiful machines. The RC51 RVT is a VTR over here in England. They are very rare here. See quite a lot more Panigale, still rare though. Give me the Honda any day.

That RC 51 sure aged well: still looks stonking today. Very nice bikes, but the Honda all day long. Let's see how the Duc is holding up after 17 years...

I'm sure the Duc will hold up fine but I thing you are right....lots of special edition Ducatis but only one RC51!

Nice bikes. Let's be real. They both make terrible street bikes. Great for the track though! College roommate had the 51 while I had a GSXR750, both virtually new at the time. Interesting bike for sure, the Honda was. Of course, Hayden was a force back then, adding to the hype of the 51. Most won't admit it, but 130HP is probably the sweet spot when it comes to fully analogue sportbikes.

The Ducati obviously is superior in pretty much everything, except on the looks, the RC51 for me is way prettier.

No, this is the V4 which is the 1103 cc engine. The one you are thinking of is the V2.
