Here is a 480P transfer of the same "Memories" disc. Part 1 kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKSUi6SdiN9rmZY Part 2 kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZKopHR7jbiqh9E The Media Hoarder also has other side of the final CED disc, mostly still screens about milestones in manufacturing and faces and names at RCA involved with CED manufacturing.

Technology Connections' documentary fueled my fascination with the CED. This thing could've been a king of home video if it weren't stuck in development hell for so long...

I own a few electronic retail stores. After watching this video I’m convinced that the RCA Selectavision video system is something that my customers want. I’m going to inquire about selling RCA Selectavision players and disc at my retail store locations.

It’s been two years; are you now selling RCA®️ SelectaVision™️ Video Discs and players?
@MrBuc128 Жыл бұрын
@@mutestingray no I’ve gone bankrupt. It turns out that these players are very old and obsolete I’m afraid I’ve made a horrible horrible mistake

Nuts. And today these grooves are immense compared to digital technologies

video on a ordinary Vinyl with more narrow grooves. Damn!! Nobody can say they haven't pushed analog mediums to the maximum. This is just brilliant engineers work! And bet playing such a disc in 100+ years would still be possible because it has no digital encryption or soon-to-be obsolete digital videoformat.

Except the vinyl will probably crumble to powder over time, and they skip so much when new that they will probably be unplayable in 100 years. Mine didn't last 2 months.

I have a couple of CED discs at home in my collection. I found a small stack of them at the Goodwill and bought them having no idea what they were as I had never seen the format before. Very cool to have, but nothing to play them on either.

So much time, money and labor to develop a failure. Mine skipped so much that I got rid of it in months. And his plan of "owners will purchase 20-30 discs in the first year of ownership" didn't consider or neglected to mention the disc rental market would curb sale estimates.

All these people in this lab were laid off three weeks later. The space now occupies a Build-A-Bear. That man was a shyster.

EPA manufacturing restrictions and overseas labor is much cheaper.

All this and $600 million for three years of production, ending in a huge flop. Instead of using lasers to inspect the discs, they should have been using them to read a disc.

This video looks like it was transfered from CED lol what crappy resolution!!
