RCAF CC-115 (DHC-5 Buffalo) Approach and Landing

A Royal Canadian Air Force De Havilland Canada DHC-5 Buffalo CC-115 115462 is seen on approach and landing at CZNL in Nelson, British Columbia on a nice windy summers day. The video shows the landing gear being deployed and the unique attitude the Buffalo has during its approach.
The aircraft was in town doing some SAR (Search & Rescue) training missions, and dropped a few paratrooper SAR Technicians. Stick around till the end of the video to see the parachutes in action! It's always great to see this impressive turboprop plane in action!

Holy crap... it looked like he stopped it in mid air to get lined up on the runway. lol I love these old planes. This one and the DC-3 especially. I'm so glad that Buffalo is saving these old birds and putting them back to work!

I really like the classics as well, they're always fun to see. Unfortunately the RCAF is retiring their CC-115's this year, I'll be sad to see them go.

@@TheHDAviation We get the C-130s flying out of the local airbase around here. Luckily, they don't really have anything that can compete with them for moving heavy loads as efficiently and economically. It's a beautiful sight to see 5 or 6 of them flying a pattern.

Viking Air Ltd. in Victoria now owns the type certificate for this aircraft, and at one time, stated that it was their intention to produce an improved model of the DHC-5 ("DHC-5NG"). I don't know what eventually became of this.

TheHDAviation Thank you, yes he flew a de Havilland Caribou too which is vey similar to this plane. Check out the videos of them a very cool plane. This was in the early 70s. 👍 Also de Havilland Herons and Doves. He was old school, was a Pan Am captain back in the 50s flying DC-4, DC-6. A very different time.

TheHDAviation I got to fly in the Heron and Dove many times as a kid as my father owned a tour service in Hawaii flying tours around the islands. The Heron had 4 engines. Really cool in its time.
