RCBS 1500 Digital Pocket Scale Review

Not a bad little scale. I bought a random one off amazon that I ended up liking a lot. I'd have to go back and check the price and what not but it came with like 4 powder trays, a powder scoop and some plastic tweezers all inside a nifty case. Lots of decent ones you can find. Just gotta look for em. Thank you for the review! I love all your videos! You and Elvis are what got me into casting and powder coating my own bullets. Y'all have lots and lots of great info out there :3

I received that same scale with the Rebel kit and found readings to drift and be inaccurate. RCBS sent a replacement which works great and outwardly, appears to only incorporate a different weighing table. They didn’t require the original to be returned, so I might do a teardown to see what makes it tick. 😁

I have an old RCBS 750 scale . I was thinking about up grading at some time . Like the dual power option of the 750 , I don't have to worry about low batteries.

Thanks for the review. I bought a similar scale off Amazon but it was to slow for trickling powder. This scale seems much faster/responsive👍🏻

I just started reloading and that is the same scale I bought. Seems to work ok so far.

I bought the Rebel kit too. My RCBS 1500 has been pretty much junk. Love the rest of the kit. It worked okay for a while but have had enough bad readings I don't trust it. I have much better luck using my chargemaster and my 5-10 to check it.

Thanks for reviewing that. I was curious as to how good it was. I had purchased the lyman pocket scale several years ago and it just seems like it jumps around and it turns off fast. It doesn't inspire confidence

I bought a RCBS 1500 scale about 7 months ago . It was $ 79.95 cdn . It has a problem of changing weight + or- 2 gr while just sitting there ? It's confusing when weighing 5 gr of Titegroup powder for a revolver ? The scale reads either 3 gr or 7 gr ! I got to the point I don't trust it !

Is it sitting near a fluorescent light? Sometimes that can be a problem.

Yep, same here. Won't trust it on low charge weights. Have a backup beam scale. Maybe they fixed their issues in the newer production ones. Very disappointed especially since RCBS is someone we're supposed to trust.

I notice when trickling it jumps by 0.2gr. This is exactly what mine does. I throw 44.4 and want 44.5 but trickling makes it jump to 44.6.

When you calibrate your scale you should set it to ZERO with the pan on it, then weigh the test weight in the pan.

You shouldn't Tare the scale during the calibration cycle. During use you certainly would want to Tare (zero) the pan out.

The real test will be how long it continues to be accurate and how much drift when around other electronics. Next but not least battery life.
