RCD330 (187B) Head Unit Radio Upgrade/Swap (2011 Volkswagen Jetta SE Mk6)

Swapping the older RCD510 radio for the RCD330.

Hy. Do you have battery drain issues? I have rcd310 in my 2011 jetta mk6, dont find any post about drain battery issue like the mk5 versions

Nice! Would you say that its sound quality is better than the RCD 510?

Honestly not too sure. I can't really remember. The main thing that did it for me though was the Navigation, Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay. When I had the RCD 510 I didn't have a Bluetooth Module included in the car or Navigation, just only the 6 disk changer and the Aux chord didnt work. I honestly liked the 6 disk changer though and wish the RCD 330 had it, but as far as convenience being able to use everything the Apple Carplay has to offer it makes a huge difference for me. I'd recommend it for that reason but it also depends on your personal preference. Only thing I miss from my last setup was to be able to change CDs

@@sth801lifestyle Thanks for your insight - I have a RCD330 on the way, and I also like the 6-cd changer on my RCD510, but with Apple music and the sd-card slot, I'm not sure that it will be missed too much, especially seeing as my entire cd collection sits in my icloud library too. Apparently the RCD330 can also do flac from the SD card slot and USB, so there's that too. I intend on connecting the RCD330 to an amp, so I hope the sound quality is good!

karim soufiani Hi I don’t have the rcd330 anymore but from memory it was probably on-par or perhaps a little better than the rcd510? I did have it connected to an amp via a quality high level to low level converter(audiocontrol) but wanted more functionality from the headunit(dsp, eq, time aligment etc) so have since upgraded to a kenwood carplay headunit. For what the RCD330 costs, it presents very good value for money. If you’re not going to be changing speakers or adding an amp, I’d say go for it.

Yeah but I still need to get/install the backup camera. Other then that it was plug n play and works nice
