This is the top result in my search. Love Greg’s videos. Worst video he has done. Doesn’t show cutting of the red wire. Doesn’t explain that the esc red wire should be cut because it’s only sending 6v to the receiver. Doesn’t explain that your rx needs 2 free ports. Doesn’t explain why you need to run both cables from the Bec to the rx. Didn’t need to show us a car. Should have shown us all the electronics on the table, what we need to do, and why. Sorry to be so critical, I know it’s hard to make videos. This clip raises more questions than answers and Greg can do better

Maybe time to revisit this BEC as more servos go HV....just installed one in my EXB to boost my 45 kg AGF-RC servo from 7.4 to 8.4v😎

I run a mamba x with built in 8a peak bec. I installed a external castle 10a bec just cause. Over kill? Or a case of better safe than sorry? I can say that response and speed of my servo is faster so guess I answered my own question lol

Hi I have a question. Things I have Gen 7 pro receiver HW ESC model 1080 35kg servo that can work at 7.4 v My question is if the receiver wont burn if I set ESCs bec voltage to 7.4 and if the servo will take that voltage too

I know this is an older video, but my receiver does not have a spare channel that I won't use to plug the three wire lead into. I can plug the two wire lead, but not the three wire lead. Will it still work?

So you just plugged the wires into any random open port on the transmitter? And that actually works correctly? Mine says voltage/temp sensor port, RPM sensor port, and BATT/. So any of those would work?!?? What about for adding a switch for led lights too? Would it matter which ones you plugged them into? This is for a traxxas summit 1/10 if you're curious.

X01xCOUNTRYx01X hey thank for asking, it turned out great i still don’t understand the full reason behind why there is a dual outup but i believe it is so what the electronics are drawing high amounts of current it splits it between two leads. Al i know is its all good to plug them both in. Never had an issue

Cool, I just got cc Bec 2.0 WP. One thing I read is that if your ESC has a internal BEC you have to disconnect the red wire from ESC.

A couple people mentioned the summit and using it for dual batteries. On the castle site there is a diagram on how to wire it with two batts. It is critical this is done correctly and the Internet searches lie. I am running it great on two summits using a Holmes hobby rx bypass adapter. It lets the BEC drive my high power servos off a y connector directly and continue using the BEC in the esc to drive the Rx and the shifting servos at safe 6 volts. So therefore my rigs are using 2 BEC's. It's sick. Do not plug the second connector off the castle BEC into the Rx as instructed "for best performance" it says. You do not need it to work and what's cool is it can be used as a power source for anything else. I use it for light bars.

is the amperage halved on each castle bec output? EX if the total is 12 amps is it 6 on the leads with just the black and red and 6 on the other that you can hook up the castle link too? Also if using just one with a bypass connector does it matter which output you use?

How would you use this bec to power a servo without running the extra voltage through the receiver? The purpose of the extra set of output wires confuses me. Normally don’t bec just have 2 input wires and 2 or 3 output wires?

Wiring the BEC is pretty much the same. The only difference is where you mount it. Find a space where the wires won't get caught up in any moving parts.

Israel Quesada Holmes hobbies sells a bypass (y connector) and makes it to where you only plug one into the receiver. Bec servo goes into the Y, then the one coming off that only goes into receiver. An you do t have to remove the + from the esc wires. Much better way for 6$. An the wiring is the exact same as he showed you across platforms

I am considering running a BEC on my 2019 V4 Arma Kraton, the stock ESC (BLX185) currently outputs only 6 V. It does not have the option to adjust the internal BEC. So if I install the external BEC is that going to be overpowering my ESC or be bad for it? I currently have the Savox sw12g, which is capable of being powered by 7.4 V. And I’m pretty sure that the receiver I have in my car can handle it. Is it common for most receivers to be able to handle the increase up to 7.4 V? The other question though is in my going to increase the chance of overheating my ESC and my motor by pushing it be on the 6 V that its native for? Or should I just splurge another hundred bucks and simply pick up a new Mac 6 esc, Which has an adjustable be easy internally?

Or.... pay just US$2 to buy a DC-to-DC switching buck converter and you can adjust that voltage with just a mini screwdriver and household multimeter. Forget about an expensive brand name BEC and its fancy schmancy adjuster dongle -- a BEC is just a fancy name for a common DC-to-DC buck converter so that they can charge you US$20 for a US$2 component. For FPV gear you might need some noise filtering, but for servos who cares.

So I need a BEC for my servo. I'm not a hundred percent sure I understand the whole system of it. We are just bypassing the BEC in the ESC correct? So the external BEC just provides extra power to the receiver? And then the receiver transfers that extra power to the servo? I didn't notice you doing anything with the wires to the servo so I'm confused how it helps the servo.....
@brianniggemann3937
@brianniggemann3937 6 жыл бұрын
Paultro 84 You are correct. A typical ESC BEC only supplies 1 or 2 amps to the receiver to be split amongst all of the items plugged into it. An external BEC is likely capable of supplying 10 to 15 amps. This becomes necessary when upgrading to a high torque servo that requires 3 to 6 amps. And / or you plug in a big light set with light bar. And a winch, etc. As far as installation, the BEC usually plugs into an open slot (or two) on your receiver, and supplies power to all the other things plugged into the receiver. All of the positive pins are common to each other, and all of the negative pins are common to each other. This is how plugging the BEC into a receiver slot powers the other items.

It looks like you need 2 empty ports. Not sure why the Castle has 2 power leads, but it's very frustrating. Most people don't have 2 open ports on their Rx

Custom Setting increment for this B.E.C. is 7.2 jumping to 7.5 for the next selection. Missing the 7.4 volts that is so popular today for high voltage servo. That's why I'm giving it 3 star.

Hi, I've just installed the castle bec 2.0 WP on my Traxxas TRX4. But when all is connected the ESC led turn in fast blinking green, that means (according to the owner's manual) the ESC is not receiving a signal. I've already checked all connectors and is's OK. The led in ESC is in fast blinking green, the led on reciver in solid red and a small led on castle BEC is also in solid red... ¿faulty bec? ¿reprogram ESC? ¿any solutions? I don't know whats happening :( Please help. Thanks a lot.
