Just wanted to note, there's a reason the threads on the front parts are left-handed, while the tail cone has a regular, right-handed thread. It all has to do with the direction the motor/fan spin. It's done that way so that the reactive torque on the EDF housing doesn't loosen those parts while in operation, but tightens them instead.

This is an awesome, & educational video. I’m working on building my Computer. To make it look like an Airplane ✈️. I like the *{Shield Hover Carrier} from the Marvel Movies. I’m still working out some of my ideas 💡. But you sir have a new subscriber. Keep up the great work.

I would guess that with this upgrade you increase the voltage and therefore lower the amps if you were to fly at the same speed just for comparison. I would hope that at less amps the lipo pack (now 2 packs) would heat up less drawing less current and maybe you can get away with buying more economical lipos with lower C rating and having a smaller ESC. At least this is what happened when I upgrade a helicopter from 6s to 12s. Of course, it would love to go as fast as possible at times with my stinger 90mm. But I wonder if my assumption holds true just comparing the amps and temperature in both setups at the same speed. Anyway, I will be upgrading my 90mm stinger. I will look to see what upgrade options are available. Thanks again for the review.

Rich, Nice review and demo. I don't doubt that EDF unit will be powering many planes. Also has that nice turbine sound.

It is the finest fan I have ever used...this is the 3rd plane I have used it in and they are bullet proof. I should have the installation video out soon....

Thanks for the video sir ! I am going to use 2 of them on a rc plane and i need one to be ccw and other is cw directions. Is it possible to change the direction of blades by detaching allen screws and mount it back in opposite side ?

I wouldn't say it was the best range of fans in the industry, maybe one of the better Chinese fans but it doesn't compare to a Jetfan, Schubie or Wemo end of the day. JP's own testing shows 2880 watts for only 3.98kg thrust. Jetfan 90mm GRP fan with HET 650-68-1600Kv motor produces 4.5kg thrust at 2990w, that's a huge difference in thrust for only 3.2A more!

Extreme RC AUSTRALIA You may be trying to split the atom again:) Merely comparing numbers does not demonstrate quality. Better specs does not mean better. With a JP fan, I get a precision engineered masterpiece out of the box that I can plug in and go! I prefer this design made from aluminum with a static spinner cone.
@ExtremeRadioControl
@ExtremeRadioControl 6 жыл бұрын
Pretty anodizing is not all that important when you cannot see it. Alloy rotors are also not required, the best performing fans out there use GRP or carbon for blades, and numbers are extremely important in the world of EDF. Everyone knows the quality of Jetfan, Wemotec and Schubeler, all of which are plug in and go. Methinks you are being blinded by bling ;)
@RCINFORMER
@RCINFORMER 6 жыл бұрын
Extreme RC AUSTRALIA Me thinks you have a bias:) It's not the bling, it's the quality and design that makes this an an outsanding fan! For you to say that the JP fan does not compare to the other brands is simply false and is very disingenuous on your part. It's design probably in reality puts it in a class by itself above the others in many ways:) NO ONE else makes a fan like it! :)

Extreme RC AUSTRALIA Wait... are you selling the other brands?
@ExtremeRadioControl
@ExtremeRadioControl 6 жыл бұрын
Actually I sell all brands that perform, and the JP fans have their place no doubt, in fact I have built the 90mm JP fan with a higher spec motor and it comes much closer to the European fans in results. I never said I wouldn't use them and I actually like the construction, but you are being disingenuous by making the claims you do for the general public to hear.End of the day facts are facts and test data outweighs beliefs. For example, you say the small blade gap makes it super efficient, well the boundary layer would disagree with you, I suggest you read wemotecs white paper sometime on the effects of blade gap and why up to 1.5mm is not detrimental to a 90mm fan. There is so much more to it but I can see its not worth going into the technical details.

ESC question- My JP 90mm 8s fan will not run on the mantis 150 amp ESC. I have tried two of those ESCs, but any time I advance the throttle, they go into a re boot and re-count the cells. I tried two separate ZTW Gecko escs rated for 6-12S. They both burst into flames! What ESC is best with this fan? Has anyone else had any issues?

I've been told by some AMA members and the Hobby king USA manager, that Aluminum EDF are illegal in the USA. Are you aware of that? it's a shame cause they look nice.
@RCINFORMER
@RCINFORMER 5 жыл бұрын
Not sure... as I read the AMA rules it says no metal propellers. This is a internal fan.... Turbine models use metal compressors & metal turbine stages and they are legal.

Will it be ok with the tail cone using the stock outrunner?? I know you said hotter motor but will it still be ok? I would think better aerodynamics this way versus using it with tail cone off. (plus looks much better :)

@brianroberts5062

I can't see the logic here. I cant see why an inrunner would be better with the cone. The outrunner spinning would generate more draft. I have multiple pairs of the 70s 90s and a 105. I am putting normal and reverse rotation 90s in an Epic twin. Should be nice. I have spun them all up in Thrust stands and run successive batteries through them and the motors just don't get that hot. The 70s and 90s are 6S though. Cheers
