Yep, it's a real stunner and one of the last cab back style. A total bargain of a car currently.

Loving the JJ, you can beat yourself trying to find exact parts for a replica, you just have to wait and keep looking. Took me 3 years to get a replica of my 1st cougar done. And that was a right pain 😂

Joel Johnson Custom Ultima and Schumacher Cougar SV2 - RC cars from different eras: -Old school era - where manufacturers had the sense to seal the entire transmission of an off road vehicle -New school era - where manufacturers practice the idiocy of exposing the gears of off-road vehicles

I think most have the Egress now as its been reissued a good few times. The Black didn't do that well as the price was bonkers.

"but two things that are actually wrong is the front tie rods and the rear ones" Actually, there is something REALLY wrong, and it is much more wrong than that issue with the tie rods - that gear cover and motor plate don't even seal the entire transmission. Gears are exposed on an "off-road" vehicle.

Doesn't anyone think all these videos/social media is puffing up the market for all old RCs? Honestly, who would really care about a 10yo 2wd buggy? Lotta old tamiyas run poorly, not every strong, or fast. Some were downright horrible when new but now are seen as 'kinda cool'. Now we have clear RC10s for most to just look at. I love old RCs more than the new 1s and i've been out of racing for over 10yrs now. I just finished restoring a Thundershot that hasnt been driveable in 30yrs (because i broke it) this wk. Yes it is horrid in so many ways but there is a personal connection. However it seems there is quite a bit of lipstick being thrown on any vintage RC 'pig' these days. Just 1 man's opinion. -U10

I think the appeal is that they are the RC cars a whole generation of 40, 50 somethings now, had or lusted after as kids. We all know you can get a RTR in a box like an FTX or even a higher regarded brand which will destroy an old Tamiya, Kyosho, Schumacher Team Associated etc. But owning a car you lusted after as a kid but had no hope of ever having is special. I just bought a Tamiya F101 Mansell / Ferrari. The thing of my teenage dreams. I'm happier owning and restoring that than having a modern basher, whether I drive it or not. These 30 year old cars will be 50 years old before you know it and be worth a lot more.

@@paulgeddert6125 agreed, children of the 80s personified. However, are we in it for the value or the fun? I disagree as those children of the 80s progress into pensioner status things will likely go the way of things that are going down in adjusted value held dear by boomers b/c they have now are on fixed income or at the end of their rope as it were. i just cant wrap my head around folks who have no prior connection to these old cars jumping in on the bandwagon perhaps for no other reason than to make a buck. 15-20yrs ago i actually picked up a few old cars i lusted after when i was a kid on ebay before re-re was a thing. but i didnt have them as a kid, its was just an old car to sit on the shelf, most often you didnt want to run them b/c they were fragile then and moreso now. So i let them go. Sometimes dreams are left that way. Alas only vintage 1s i have are my Blackfoot (the 1st) and my Thundershot (gifted to me for a race and i broke it in '92 and it remained broke til this wk). idk, may any and all help keep this hobby alive. too much screen time for the next generation as it is. i'm gettin close to showing my 2 young boys this stuff even if it only gets them away from screens for a time. -U10

I did it hard to understand why you are going to the trouble of finding the exact battery/esc/ball joints/etc, while you are basing it on a JJ Ultima which bears very little resemblance to the original. For example there's the tie wrap around the servo saver, that's there to keep the plastic ring compressed on the saver to lock it up. Yet on your car is a modern saver with the metal spring on top. You could at least replace it with an original, and of course the shock mounts. Then there's a whole load of work to get a period correct gearbox instead of the modern gearbox that's in the back of it.
@RCKickschannel Жыл бұрын
It’s called work in progress. Just like today I found the exact servo. These parts are hard to find so take time and you work with what you have and upgrade each part as you find a better example. 🤷
