Another top tip!! Keep your masking tapes in a nice clean plastic box. The usual food storage type things youll have in the kitchen are perfect. The reason being, if you leave them lying about the edges of the roll can get bashed, which means every time you lay down some tape that damaged edge will let paint bleed underneath. The same gors for all the crap and grit that'll stick to the sides of the roll as it gets moved about on your workbench.

@@RCKickschannel Thanks Gavin. It looks a great Hobby. No wonder you have so many cars, you’re a lucky chap. What appeals to me is a 1/10 e buggy, 1/8 nitro buggy and a 1/10 crawler. It can be never ending but I think that’s a good mix for a newbie. Budget allowing obviously. Keep up the good work 👍😃

Pretty much 40 years since I built my first Tamiya (Frog) and that's the first time I've ever heard of JIS screws and screwdriver. My poor cars, thank you for highlighting that Gavin. I have to admit now I just purchase the appropriate machine screw (hex) kit for the car so it's not an issue.

i wonder how many kits get built these days without upgrading to bearings right from day 1 with bearings being one of the cheapest upgrades i think hardly any one uses the plastic bushings so why dont tamiya just supply em, surely the saving in price isnt really worth it considering tamiya i am sure could source bearings much cheaper than even we can by buying online and the customer will be much happier knowing its one less item to order

Awesome video idea. I am one that believes everyone should build a kit at least once. Heck my first traxxas was a 2wd slash unassembled kit. I have bought more unassembled kits than rtr's. My first rc car was the tamiya grasshopper back in 1983 when I was 13 years old. And boy oh boy I had a smile on my face the whole time I built it. A memory I will never forget.

Nice introductory video, great for beginners. Having bought a fair few pairs of Lindström cutters like you show around 6:26 as a professional electronics guy, I can attest they are a little bit more than the Core-RC ones... like north of £70 these days even if you buy a dozen pairs at a time. However they are the best side cutters money can buy for delicate electronics stuff IMHO.

Possibly explain the radio more, you can race different models from one radio that is true. But some like myself thought that I could switch on and park a few cars and switch between driving whichever car I fancied from the radio. That is not true, the radio can only run one car, the actual different models you can run from the radio are actually different settings to suit each model.
@RCKickschannel
@RCKickschannel 11 ай бұрын
I have parked up three cars and jumped between each one from the transmitter. You obviously have to swap models on the transmitter but whats wrong with that? You can't expect different cars to all use the exact same settings now right?
@SteveDavies-wv2mv
@SteveDavies-wv2mv 11 ай бұрын
@@RCKickschannel I couldn't do that, it only controlled the one car but with everything different unless I switched everything off which set up do you have where you can control different cars at a switch from the controller please, I need one

Radiolink. I think what you could be hitting is the receiver timing out when it doesn't connect after a few mins. I will take a look tomorrow and see if I can reproduce is after five mins. It will make a good video short.
@SteveDavies-wv2mv
@SteveDavies-wv2mv 11 ай бұрын
@@RCKickschannelyes after chatting with a few people today that feature is on Radiolink, its ID SEED I believe. Though we did experiment with Sanwa and futaba and a flysky but that feature seemed to not be available as 3 cars were turned on with each transmitter and they were all being controlled but according to the model settings on the radio so some were steering opposite, some were forward/ reverse different and basically there seemed no way to individually control cars just by switching models on the transmitter. So perhaps I was mislead thinking that it was not possible, but perhaps it is a feature only available on certain brands of radio or perhaps the £350 plus price range. Basically I just think it's misleading that even cheap radio's put the idea in people's head that they can switch between models and drive them just by switching between on a the transmitter. If you find that it can be done across the board show us a video, or perhaps make it clear which radio systems do support this feature as the Radiolink one complete with 10 receivers just to have this feature would be a massive expense. Cheers dude

I found that flat clear tip really great. So basically you tape, apply flat clear where the border will be between 2 colours which will avoid bleeding, correct ? The coloured paint has no issue showing through after it has been sprayed on top of flat clear ? Flat clear is normally meant to give a matt effect on the outside glossy look, right?
@RCKickschannel
@RCKickschannel 11 ай бұрын
Yep, yep and yep the gloss comes from the Polycarbonate, not the paint.

You can also use a #11 blade to cut out the bodies! I’ve gone exclusively to blades for this but it took time to perfect. It’s much easier the more you do it. Using scissors lacks precision and can split the lexan. The cuts are usually more jagged too. Try it and keep trying it. 😅

You can see why a total beginner would just stick with an RTR for sure. The issue with that is, the person misses out so much as once you have built the kit, it really does feel like you accomplished something and it feels more special and yours. You just don't get that with RTR stuff. I guess it just comes from putting in time and effort and that's the two things people lack more than anything these days. Shame.
