Hello guys, great informative video BTW, just want to say that eventhough I've done RC offroad cars before, after a long hiatus from the sport, I'm tryin to get back in it, but this time into drag racing... I'm a 67yo retiree from having been 47 years in the auto tech, fleet manager and later director working in the Automotive Fleet and HD Truck and Construction Equipment industry. I've alwo been an RC car/plane enthusiast since my teens back in the 70s..I've flown planes on lines, you know, back from when humans were hunters and gatherers 😮🤣, but later I got into cars, manly because crashing isn't so "terminal" 😬..so today still own a few cars, 2 Nitros and 2 Electrics, just recently got that "popular" Losi 69 Camaro NP RTR drag car and since in my youth here in Cali, I drag-raced real cars on the street and later professionally on the strip, my love for drag racing has led me here, so, I heard you guys talkin about getting started into RC drags and if you didn't mind too much, I wanted to get some tips on getting started. Things like batteries, suspension upgrades and the likes and if you could steer me with brands and p/n and/descriptions, id be very thankful. At first, I'd like to get some things that will help me go "fast enough", but allow me to at first, learn to keep it controllable enough and also learn the "launch" and the "going straight" parts first...I'd truly appreciate it gents... Thanks guys. Very enlightening. I've just gotten into this drag thing, when gifted a dr10 for Christmas by a buddy. He got himself a slash and his cousin a losi. He wouldn't stop with the bragging, so I took a deep dive, and switched it up. I haven't got into tire prep yet, and can't just launch. I've been trying to get to going straight, and working on the trigger pull, which is surprising how hard it is to get good at. I swapped out the lower kv reedy, and went up between the slash and losi. On 2s, I was wheelying too much, and started to add weight. I'm up to 14 oz ahead of bumper, and front of chassis. I've moved on to a new esc, and reset it centered over battery tray, and moved battery about an inch forward. I dropped a tenth on a good road vs my home road, and put down a 2.79 without being able to launch. I have to start slower, and rely on my speed to run the time, but figure it's around a 2.5 car once I work out my driving. Once there, I'll get into prepping tires so I can give it more juice at jump.

@@nolimitrc1 Yo! I've been out to a hand full of races, took home 2-3 wins. It's been a thinner season this year due to work and not having time BUT the races I did attend I was happy with the outcome. This last race I had a good chance of taking it home but wasn't focused and forgot to put the wheel nuts on 🤣🤣

I don't forsee stopping being that much of an issue, it's another learning curve for sure. Figure out how kuch brake it'll take before locking up and use them!!

Great Info guys, I'll add to this, in my opinion you should always run rear limiters, when your car launches it obviously compresses down in the rear, if your not running limiters the car tends to lean one way or the other due to the IRS, no locker etc many reasons. , with limiters this prevents the uneven compression & forces the vehicle to bottom out at the same place & time every launch. in addition it also helps to run a rear sway bar as well..... there's a proper way to set up rear limiters you need to measure everything at neutral. check out KZbin many vids on this Id think......

Ideally the car doesn't bottom out when you launch, I don't run limiters or swaybars. Its a great idea for people having trouble if you really know how to set up a car they're basicslly not needed

Yea and u can setup the car with stiffer springs to hold up the rear end traxxas gtr shocks are the best I’ve used

Speaking of gears, I'm running s spectrum 6500kv on a traxxas vxl esc.. to get into the 2.3, 2.4, 2.5 et what would be the best combination

Are you talking Traxxas only with gearing ? In my group we run any chassis with only a 3VXL esc and motor on 2S. My FDR now is 5.58 This with an Associate trans using 2.60 Pinion is 34 spur is73.
