Master the X-Fly Eagle Twin 40mm EDF Flying Wing

My Son and I both got one as soon as they came out. Most flyers did not set them up right. The CG is dead on. Surface throws in the book are low and high rate. Set my wing up on a DX9 so had 3 rates for ail,elv and 2 for rudder went with 55-70-100 for ail and elv. and 100-125 on rudder.The gyro has 3 modes Locked,off and 3D on. Make sure you put velco on wooden battery tray and CG is right on the leading edge of wing. Hand launch from slots on mid rates at about 75% power lite toss no problem. Took off with the gyro off once in the air set the gyro to 3D on. P.S. Make sure your rudder is not reversed mine were. Also the throttle trim should be set just below when the fans come on. That will set up your rudder differential if the trim is all the way down the rudder will not work so no flat spins and flat spins are a blast with this wing. Hope that helps some new flyers get her in the air.

Excellent information. Do you think the EDFs can provide enough yaw control to do a knife edge pass? Are the twin EDF accurate enough to do coordinated turns instead of the usual bank-n-yank wing flying style? I personally feel bank-n-yank is a bad habit. Also, the EDF nacelles increase drag and rotational moment which can cause adverse effects I'm thinking. 🤔 But that's where the gyros come in. 👍

It's a solid little EDF wing. It is inherently unstable by design so it can be nimble. With the Gyro it flies like a bigger wing.

Great review guys, I also had issues with this plane, pretty much what happened to you guys. I moved the battery forward, drastically reduced my rates and increased the expo to 50%, this helped greatly. Two things I found that makes this plane fly really well is to totally bypass the gyro and do away with the thrust vectoring.........

It definitely has to be on low rates and preferably with the gyro on. Wings are inherently unstable aerodynamically speaking.😊

I love this thing it's a hoot and you did well considering your first wing, no gyro on, cg a little off, touchy rates and all so thumbs up awesome! Got mine after seeing this and it flew great except I learned don't blip the throttle at all when about to land, it goes wonky sometimes.

I have the prodigy great plane - it is amazing in high/turbulent winds! Good glide characteristics. 2200 3s I can get 20-30 minute flights! Thanks Abby & Nate loving ya work. Ignore the haters.

I never maiden anything without a gyro. They respond in micro-seconds to aerodynamic forces the pilot cannot see or feel. Makes my Kadet wind proof too.

@@8kigana Not true. A gyro takes _more_ experience to setup and adds a whole new layer to the setup. A newbie has enough on his hands with the basic setup to also have to worry about PID and control theory to properly setup a gyro. I suspect this may be why there are so many crashing this X-Fly plane on maiden. That said, once a gyro is setup properly, the rate mode stabilization makes any RC plane fly like its _bigger_ than it really is without actually being bigger.

Just Maidened mine today, flew awesome. Got to get that weight forward. I'm flying with a 2600 all the way forward. Maybe even better with a 3000. Got to let it get on step before turning especially with the differential thrust. Great plane.

Hey bobby I got the same one as soon as it came out! The battery has to be completely forward and you must launch it with the gyro. I had a lot of problems before I got it right. The recommended CG is all wrong and launching without the gyro active will be 50/50 chance of success or crash! Gyro has to be active so the fans respond to place the wing level!

You need to do a speed test on it. I found on mine that if i put it in a really high dive at full the Throttle the wing will start flapping. I had to turn down the gyro gain on the elevator

I fly with the locked in! It's super easy and more fun in my opinion. I flip the switch for 3d mode when I'm feeling sporty and want to get the heart rate up lol 😆
