I enjoyed my C build, and didn't have any problems with the instructions or missing any hardware. It looks great and my most "scale" truck yet. Sure you will enjoy the rig, but don't be expecting it to perform as well as the Mog, Sport, Gen8.

One of my favorite builds I've done and covered on my channel. I have the Sp4 A kit (pickup truck) love the thing. It drives smooth and it's super scale which is a plus of course.

Fantastic kit and truck! I bought the SG4-C and have been running it for 3 months. Super detailed! You are correct this is not a beginners kit. You have to be careful and size each screw, spacer, link. Watch out cuz I had to shave my output shafts in order to get the drive shafts to seat deep enough for the cross set pins. On my kit I had to get some longer screws to mount my shocks too. This truck looks so cool crawling around and I am happy but i have to play with it more carefully not like my TRX4 and Axial. For example I put it away wet and now my steering links are frozen. Gotta find the right end links to change out to free up the links. Great review! I hope you like it and test it next to all your other rigs. If you find the perfect link ends to change them out I would be so happy if you would share that info.

Wow, I don't have a crawler yet, but this makes me want one. It's like a combination of Tamiya Scale and Axial products. I love the Tamiya lighting kit, this kit already has it for $450.

You dont want a Demon. My gf and I both got Demons mine was the SR4C hers was the SP4B. mine had missing bolts and nuts in the package. the axles were missing threads and the instruction manual was absolutely horrible. an axle shaft broke in mine on the first run and the transmission is built onto the motor which makes upgrading it a pain. no actual transmission. They are incredibly slow out of the box so if you do anything with trails you will walk faster than the truck can move. I would steer clear of these things. Traxxas TRX4 Sport or anything axial will do WAY better out of the box and will be cheaper. aftermarket support for them is super limited for anything Cross RC as well.

The Demon SG series was the first released a year and a half ago. The later versions have many of these problems resolved. Look at the SU4, FR4 and the SP4. I believe an upgraded version of the SG will be made in the future that will include all these improvements

Gotcha. We're trying to confirm that now. Not easy to get detailed information. Our SG4B was purchased from Amain on May 15, 2019, just fyi.

The only upgrade I did to mine was relocate the rear shocks. I stood the rear shocks up. It reduced the torque twist that was pretty severe

Yep, same here and really it has a bit too much articulation for its wheelbase.

great review sir, i really enjoy your videos. no upgrades needed? nah the drive shafts, both universals and dogbone type on the sr4 are weak on these, you need to upgrade to the demon steering stops ASAP if you do any type of hard running (mine broke within ten minutes both sides) MIP have released a more beefier set that i can confirm solve all issues but at a price! IMHO the steering stops should be in the kit, it is a design rectification that Cross are selling as an upgrade.

I own a Honcho, K10, and SG4C... -details, metal parts, appearance: the Demon (SG4C) wins by far -performance and capabilities: Axial and Vaterra wins. My Cross RC stock motor lacks power, balance is way top heavy, stock shocks are just OK, and the small battery tray is inconvenient. Funny thing is, my Demon SG4 is one of my favorites still. It’s so “camera friendly”. Great review. Thanks for the vid.

@@DoWorkNP redcat gen8 was my first to get started, quickly fell in love with the hobby. Then the traxxas trx 4 blazer. Then wanted to learn more, so i got a trx4 kit, and built it with a jeep rubicon body!

@@kaneninerc3983 oh man rc rock crawling is addicting. Lol I got a trx4 bronco, loved rock crawling and the fact you can completely make them your own. Couple weeks after that bought a trail honcho. Then like you I wanted to learn more and I bought the trx4 kit and built that up with the 4runner lexan body and a injora 2003 jeep Cherokee hard body. Got the axial wraith 1.9 about a month or so ago and ow in regretting it. Really want the element enduro. I was able to talk 3 of my work buddies into buying a rock crawler and 2 of the them got the trx4 and one got a RR bomber. Its alot more fun if you have some buddies to go with.

I have the sg4c and I love it although I have one complaint about it. There is a lot of play in the drivetrain. This is the all metal one and there's really nothing to do about it. Compared to my trailfinder 2 the slop is really bad. Even so I still love it and I probably wouldn't have been so aware of it if I did have other ones to compare it to

Crawler kit is 15lbs loaded with battery motor and ESC. Thats the same weight i have on my axial fully metal upgraded and put around 1200$ in it. Thank you for amazing review, I will dig in their website :)

I think we're done with Cross RC for now. We want a more robust transmission with less play. Amazing bodies though and extras.

Got a sg4 for over a year, the transmission is not very smooth for the narrow angle, the gravity is a little high for the hard body. Still I love the car. By the way, I like the unimog shell very much, but the axial new car don't have the portal axel, should I buy it or should I just buy a trx4 and modify it into a unimog?

Great review, but the truck has its demons....😀. I've been out with two different trucks and different drivers. Both had problems with bent axles, cheap plastic, and a frustrating battery mount. I wanted one until each truck broke when it was relatively new, and I'm no longer quite as impressed with the truck beyond its looks. Thumbs up on your review.

We checked and it does not. So steering at limit is not the smoothest. For the benefit of others, Ackerman steering is geometry where the inside tire is put at a sharper turn angle than the outside tire. That's because at the tightest turns, the inside tire is at a tighter turning radius than the outside tire.

Exactly. most of the other brands will be at $700-$800 by the time you add beadlocks, all metal, led and a hardbody.. We will see though if the chemistry is good and if it performs on the rocks

Wouldnt you say the VS4-10 is probably more likely to be the only kit that is so tricked out that it needs no upgrades? atleast that has been my experience

The VS4-10 is pretty dialed. But it has terrible tires and wheels. Bumpers are pretty much unusable too. No LEDs and no hardbody. Otherwise, there are some very nice parts in there with great presentation. It's $900 though and that is simply too much.

@@RCReviewChannel if youre going for scale, the hardbody helps, but then the bumpers of the vs4 would be okay. Its all difference of an opinion. I find the tires do pretty well, they follow my hyrax and ottsix vodoos everywhere, and choosing aproach makes the bumpers a no problem. And its 750$ now so it aint really that bad for what you get 🤷‍♂️ But thats just IMO. Great video as usual. Keep up the good work

I've owned a demon and it was one of the worse rc I have ever owned. The plastic is crap and it takes a ton of work to get it one the trails.

This was the worst kit i have ever built,i had to buy new bolts because i was missing so many,i had to grind 1mm off the output shafts on the axles so the driveshafts would fit.It is nice when done but i will never buy another cross rc product,and i was wanting 1 of those dually kits they have.maybe i just got a dud.

Best crawler kit available? Quite possibly yes but People should know what the SG4 is and it isn't... IT IS a great scale TRAIL Crawler (Incredible scale details and awesome kit quality overall). IT ISNT a great ROCK Crawler (Ridiculously top heavy by design which makes it super easy to roll over).

@@MrFruitflan I have a buddy who is HRP dealer? so It got this rig for a pretty sweet price... He sold it in less than a month because he could not fix the tip over issue.. He bought the shock relocation kit, 2 stage foams, did some weight reduction it was for nothing the thing is simply too top heavy for rock crawling. He did look AWESOME while doing the trails into the rock segments though and his Scale Points where on the roof…

No upgrades needed? You must build for shelf not the trail. They look kinda cool but have one of the weakest drivetrains I've ever seen. Not anywhere near being on the level of an Axial or a Traxxas. Absolute waste of money.

Can you give us more valuable information? What exactly didn't you like? Components? Performance, reliability? With a claim like that against the quality we saw in the box, you should provide more detail.
