A good Ol fashioned choir march! I miss the 90s choirs! I remember being in the choir in the 90s and we would follow the pastor in and then that stopped. Traditional still gets me!

This brings back memories. A lot of churches have taken choirs marching in out,but Dr. Hayes was traditional anyway. Long live his legendary legacy and may the hands of God continues to hold cosmopolitan church of prayer and pastor derail smith.

They have reworked this song from the early '60's, written by Rev Charles Craig for the Spiritual Church and its unbelievably huge conference, at that time. Chicago's First Church of Deliverance Choir had 250 voices, in those days. I remember hearing this on First Church's radio broadcast for the first time one summer when I was a kid. They sang it much slower, but wore it out with their first sopranos singing some high soprano parts. I like this version because they have managed to keep the same energy as the song had back in the '60's. BTW, I found out that the uplifted hand represents an uplifted mind. If you know anything about the Spiritual Church, this is very befitting, as they were scoffed at initially. And today, many of their beliefs are part of so many other denominations. We have to remain in a position to receive, learn and advance in mind.

I really don't care if the right hand is up, Yaw'll look good....I WISH MORE CHOIRS WOULD MARCH IN (PROCESSIONAL), We are losing our true tradition. I love to see a choir march in, in stead of just COMING FROM THE SIDES OF THE CHURCH AND SITTING DOWN. YAW'LL LOOK GREAT............S A N G CHOIR.

Amen for the traditional. Chicago is noted for the traditional. But the hand up... I don't remember it growing up at Haven of Rest or at Fellowship

It was apart of the spiritual church..it was them saluting the cross.

I believe St James Baptist Church did it. It signified the right hand of God and reverence entering his sanctuary.

What is the meaning of the hands held up?
@_donald.harrison0411 ай бұрын
In the black church the right hand mostly refers to the right hand of fellowship or right hand of God. It mainly shows reverence when walking into the sanctuary. This was common for choirs to do back in the day and is still done during benedictions.
