Yeah, it reminds me of one of the weird cymbal samples I had in my cheap e-kit I had years ago. The kit was horrible, but the snare and cymbal sounds were pure bliss.

I had a 14 'effects' cymbal that someone made out of a very cheap hi hat cymbal, the pie tin ones you get with entry level drum sets. The previous owner had drilled 16 holes in it and it sounded great to me. Trashy, dark, and kind of mysterious. I'm sure a big brand effects cymbal would have sounded better but not that much better. Considering I paid $25 for it it was a great deal. Gave it to my brother for his kit but really wish I still had it now.

Pretty cool! My only concern with the random-holed one would be that it may crack quite easily where the holes are very close to the splash's edge. And I like the snare sound in your videos :-)

DUDE!!!! Awesome!!!! You actually made that B8 POS sound like a decent splash!! BIG improvement! The XS20 sounds better too, but it was holding it's own before the holes. It would be worth buying the drill press just to convert a couple of cheap ass cymbals.

You should try using industrial ammonia to patina a cymbal to make it darker, just pour it over the cymbal in your driveway and put a metal garage can lid over it and leave it overnight. I personally have not tried it but my friends over a Revival drum shop told me about this
