I'm a sri lankan and saw this film Shaan in Bombay at Minerva theatre if I'm right the first day first show. This is somewhere in 1980s I think I remember. At that time I was just 20 years old.

Same here, i am a calcatian, the same passion was here in my city, Kolkata. At the time of Durga puja to Deepavali we used to enjoy whole night orchestras in early 80s . Thank God we are of that less technologywala era.

When we listen to such music then we realize how great the indian music arrangers of the past were. Western orchestras are unable to reproduce indian film songs with tabla and other indian percussions during live performances.

So nice . Violins are excellent background for unimaginable deapth. But shades of James Bond title music in the begining. But great composition. Great music director. violins and brass are the best forever. Original instruments provide life. Synthesized music has to bow down before the original. Gone were the days of flutists, guitarists and mandolin players.

RDBURMAN, SHAAN TITLE MUSIC - BEYOND IMAGINATION is so, because it has been very well presented and performed and beautifully played by the Orchestra band Musicians! It was sounding more like a western symphony, but very well improvised and arranged, thoroughly enjoyable performance! I think the singer was Mona, sang beautifully, blending nicely with the music! Truly a commendable and enjoyable piece of music, thanks for sharing this gem!

Listening to the vocal part, I realize the truth : It is about mezzo soprano vocal range...... India has one and only one singer capable of singing in mezzo-soprano voice -- Usha Uthup. Hindustani and Carnatic music systems do not encourage this vocal range. I think the first song we had, of this genre is "dum maro dum"
