Most fighting game rosters have about 25 characters. So I don’t see it being too far fetched. But we play dragon ball fighting games and after 3-4 gokus and vegetas the roster ain’t that big either

Bleach: Dark Souls for, I think, the Nintendo DS was a legit good fighting game. It had some jank, but it’s legit got some fantastic combos and gameplay. But yeah: Shattered Blade was BAD. The game being on the Wii, focusing on the wiimote gimmick ruined it. And there’s no excuse, cause there were games like the Castlevania fighting game, Smash Bros Brawl and Tatsunoko vs Capcom that were either decent or legit great. Shattered Blade had no excuse. lol

Hunterxhunter has a big cast. It's just how they're drawn and the manga gaps that you forget how many characters populated the arcs. Zolydack family could get like four characters. Not even counting the butlers. Chimera ant gets at least 2 just ant but could be like five really. Now still in ant arc, kite, and the two hunters that come with netero. And a second version of Gon. Greed island has a couple picks outside who trains them. The whole zodiac hunters but i don't see them being in it. Same with the characters from the current arc. And hunter exam should give you the ninja dude but also someone from the money tower section. Hunterxhunter got as many characters as jojo or one piece does. It's just that until the chimera arc character didn't really have bombastic designs. So you forget them

HxH does not have as many characters as Jojos or OP stop it. And more importantly a good chunk of these HxH characters dont even have enough references to really create a full set on regular combat & special attack animations.

@jeffhill1213 it's really an art style thing and how the story is written. Leorio is just a guy in a business suit and generally speaking HXH didn't do monster/villain of the week stories. It's why you remember jojo or one piece villians or characters so well. It's not exactly a lack of caring its how they're presented in the story. The argument isn't so much do you care or are they memorable, it's a do they have them. Specifically enough for a core roster and they do.
