Eternals and Deviants, are from genetic modification from humanity, due to the Celestial who created them ( like Ego the father of Starlord, we saw him in the 2nd Guardians of the Galaxy) Thanos is an Eternal from Titan which is just a different branch from the Earth's Eternal (which are the ones presented in the movie).

Endgame wasn't all that different, the setup may have been days/weeks or even months, but the last battle seemed shorter than even the battle in Wakanda. Just saying, if they are going the way that many speculate it's going to go, there is a very specific reason they(Earth's Eternals) didn't intervene. The trailer also hints at that story point if you know what you are looking for. Honestly, the questions surrounding this whole thing is on Marvel to produce the answers and is understandable....but there are those out there thinking it's going to be trash out the gate. What were they doing? Why didn't they help? We don't know anything about them...well, 99% of the normies didn't know about the Guardians either. Hell, I'm willing to go out on a limb and say that a very high number of MCU fans at this point don't know shit about the Marvel roster beyond what they've seen so far. I kind of always knew that, but it was super painful in a way, back when Spider-man showed up and there were folks who didn't know he was a Marvel character to begin with.

I see hints at a certain story point in the trailer as to why for either event, but I can easily give a few if they choose to go another route. First: They are immortal, but not invunerable...Thanos is their kin, so like him can be killed. That tells me they could have been snapped like everyone else. Second: That speech being given is at an earlier time and is misleading. They stayed out of human affairs mostly beyond a few guiding steps and completely dropped the ball on Thanos. Third: They were simply afraid of Thanos and didn't intervene at all because of what he did on Titan and the rest of the galaxy. This one is doubtful though, where were they during New York? No way they couldn't have known that army served him right? But I think personally think it all has to do with sleep and mind control. Just saying.

They are a group of extraterrestrial super powered aliens who have lived among humanity for thousand of years. Their enemies are the Deviants. It’s a great movie!
