best not to trust that information, raster performance is the only thing that can increase significantly but the price is still terrible, of course it is still cheaper than Nvidia. RT performance still won't improve significantly if they don't get serious about making a dedicated core for RT like Nvidia (in case you ask me why, KZbin has a video available explaining how GPUs do RT and what that dedicated core does irreplaceable effects)

Many possible answers AMD sandbagging performance per watt either by using old silicon or under powering, AMD testing mobile part, AMD seeing how low they can drop power supplied before the performance drops of a cliff(AMDs Vega &then RDNA has given surprisingly good APUs considering the lower power and fact it's sharing space with hot CPU cores yet don't scale as well to discrete cards with more power and better thermal controls)

Screw this song and dance because I already know the future: RDNA 4 delayed from CES 2025 to very last day of Q2. At Computex, Lisa Su shows slide indicating 1.7x IPC improvement over RDNA 3, however the review shows a 5% performance regression and AMD marketing display shocked pikachu face. I built a new PC last spring with 5800X3D and some other top-quality components. For the GPU I put in a used 6600XT because the 7800XT still wasn't out. So now I'm trying to decide between going for a 7800XT Nitro, waiting for RDNA 4, or maybe even considering a 4070Ti Super (if the price comes down)... 🤔

Also, the 6750xt and 6800xt are better deals than the 7800xt as they cost less and have equalish performance. If your plan is to wait so much longer to upgrade then I'd just save my money now and get a 4080 variant card as it will last you that much longer.

@@phillysupra Yeah, the 6600XT was only intended as a placeholder, due to the GPU shortage last spring still. It has kept me entertained with things like BeamNG and EuroTruckSim2 in the meantime anyway haha. My intention was to build a PC for MSFS2020, but looks like it'll be MSFS2024 by the time I upgrade the GPU 😅 4080 was a consideration, but a little power-thirsty for my liking, and a bit pricey too. MLID just leaked that 8800XT (or whatever it'll be called) will likely be released by November, and be at least 4070ti Super performance for $600, so if true, that'd suit me nicely!
