Yeah, the only thing I don't like about RDR2 melee combat is that it is very stiff, in contrast to GTA V which was pretty loose

⁠gta 5 melee is very poorly made lol. Well not exactly poorly made is that there’s barely any combos and moves, all you can do Is punch and dodge punches and counter after dodging. And the pedestrians take like 3 hits to die, however red dead melee is very cinematic. Makes me feel like it’s a movie instead of a video game. It’s obvious gta 6 will have different melee mechanics, it will might be almost the same as red dead. Or gta 4 melee will come back to gta 6

Hand to hand combat in rdr2 is just so good and fun, especially when you know the little tricks and how to throw people trough windows or smash their heads on tables etc. Always respect npcs who leave guns in their holsters and just bang with you.

I never understood why they haven’t put that in the game…. It even has its own part in the story where you go find Charles in saint denis as John and he’s doing street fights with betting. Would’ve been very realistic and a fun addition. I love fighting in rdr2 but there’s to many places where either you’ll get in trouble or npcs start shooting

I once got into a fist fight with a guy in front of the Saint Denis saloon (The Big One) and then the most movie-esque thing happened. We were fighting in front of the doors so as we were fighting he managed to push me into the doors, opening them. Then our fight got pushed farther away from the doors, making them close.

Hear me out, the unarmed fist combat in this game is pretty amazing. It feels so raw, heavy, powerful and badass to punch the shiet out of an NPC. There are so much depth to it as well, but sadly, it all gets ruined by the fact that pretty much all NPCs are literally world fighting champions. This is because of their DISGUSTING ability to bob, weave and counter almost all your attacks as frequently as they like. You might think that it's an overstatement, but no, they can and WILL dodge almost every punch you throw at them, to the point where it doesn't even actually feel satisfying to knock em' out. For example, if you pick a fight with the Saint Denis workers, they will gang up on you, but it will feel so lame, because every single one of them can just counter all your attacks, while also hitting you from the back and sides, but the worst part is, that no matter how many times you punch someone in this game, they will NOT get worse in their ability to weave and counter your attacks, no, they will fight you to the end. Also, why can so many NPCs take like 10 or more hits before they actually get knocked out? Even tho Arthur and John has the most powerful looking punches in the West?

i guess you never fight a real fist fight irl, when you talked how "raw, heavy, powerful and badass punch", it isnt easy to knock out someone, yeh ofc they will not go easy on you cuz they're fighting for their life in the game. and how is it hard? you just time/hold the counter button and punch them back when there's an opening. are you handicapped? genuinely asking.

I have a few questions about how your doing some of these. How are you headbutting some of them? Is it melee button right as their attack is about to hit or is it block button then attack. Also how are you getting these animation knockouts and gun kills? You put them up against the wall and shoot them or for melee you beat their head in the wall or slam head on table?
