This is the first time I heard a detailed interview of Digambar Kamat, where his sincerity & body language has had a lasting impression on me. Unlike my earlier negative impression of him, which were based on hearsay & the myriad allegations against him, he has come come out as a sincere, helpful, down to earth and a committed politician, especially towards the helpless masses, in this interview. One more major plus point during his tenure as CM was that he had the guts of scrapping the destructive & draconian Regional Plan that was foisted on the people of Goa in 2006 and replacing it with a much better regional plan with guidelines framed by top experts like Charles Correa & Edgar Rebeiro and the draft plan which was explained at every local body in Goa and kept open for the public for filing objections & suggestions. However I feel he is in the wrong party, which is becoming irrelevant not only in Goa, but the rest of the country as well. If he really wants to serve Goa, he should quit the defunct Congress and convene a Goa based regional party, who would choose capable & honest candidates that are incapable of being bought by the highest bidder. Cheers to the interviewer Nandan, whose been asking all the right questions.
