how do you guys decide when to fit eccm or grapple on lesh? do you just know what groups bring a lot of jams?

Yes, basically reputation/intel on ECCM/cap batteries part. Grapples are mandatory usually to be able to kill smaller targets than BS, with higher end groups usually running 100ABs for some reason you end up needing them there too. Scrams are hard part, i personally always use 1 scram purely because i tend to be first on top of someone, so i can stop his MWD. Generally you don't need many scrams, you need to win a fight first. Another great use for scrams/grapples is what people call "screening" - for example securing bhaalgorns/vindicators in a position so they can't fly all over the grid and kill your support wing.
