Agreeing with other comments, please don't use Alice as a commentator again. She knows what she is talking about and seems like a nice person, but we can barely even hear her. Not talking about how irritating hearing mumbling for 3 hours can be...

You now only have to double what you have accomplished. Lets hope there is a driving force behind this newfound ability, or maybe that are well deserved threats.

Why is it that some horses have their tongues out and nobody seems to care at all?? Especially as a "professional" rider I would hope that that doesn't happen..ever. I don't know the horses or the riders..in case there is some backstory but I just think that it's so sad that people don't seem to care that a horse is suffering/can't breathe or poperly close its mouth. The majority of these rides show horses in pain and discomfort and it's a mistery to me why these people are allowed to compete at all or even ride a horse. This isn't sportsmanship but animal abuse which is completely ignored by officials. There are a bunch of good riders who can complete such a difficult course without violently ripping into their horses mouths and I can't help myself but wonder why we support the ones that are absolutely disgusting to an animal, which is supposed to be their partner. I just think we can all work on ourselves and especially open our eyes when we watch so-called "professional riders" terrorizing their horses for a quick pay out. They're still animals...not a racecar

Yes I’m paying close attention to tails, ears, and mouths to make sure they’re not whipping, pinned, and gaping open respectively. I hate to see it and it’s so normalized. Silent signs of a horse in pain and no one cares.

If the horses were in pain they wouldn't jump. Not sure why some enjoy imagining such nasty motives or intents, but these wonderful animals are among the best cared for creatures on earth.

Paoli on Gaudi I think is the name, that horse was hurting and rebelling the bit the entire time,t he refusals were not due to lack of ability, the rider was hurting him and y ou can see the scars and that horses hip is prominent. He just appears hurting and only paying attention to the huge pull on his mouth, the ears laid back. ON the after shot I notice her heels in him but she's holding him back. He's getting mixed cues from her sadly. Let his head down once he's done performing even if he did poorly. .

She’s using a Cheltenham gag (mechanically terrible, conflicting and straight up painful) with a martingale and what looks to be a drop of some sort, what a combination, definitely in the top of the worst set up on there. Where is the regulation ? I didn’t see a single horse not gape, shake their head, throw their heads up, they were hollow, disengaged and jumping flat because of the discomfort. It’s so so sad to see.

Please, @FEI, either tell her to speak louder and more clearly or never ever use the "Alice" commentator again. As someone immensely interested in this sport, I found myself growing bored and sleepy listening to her mumbling. The sounds echoing from the microphones on the course itself were louder than her actual voice ever was. During the first animated demonstration of the course, the music in the background of their area was louder than she was by an embarrassing level. It was painful. The other commentator did great. But this one is atrocious. She doesn't seem to like talking into a mic at all.

@@emma2501 That's probably because "Alice" is not a professional commentator, but surely a professional rider 😅
@roisinnigcrainn77223 жыл бұрын
Emma, I completely agree. For most of this event, I had to strain to hear her over the sounds of the poor horses snorting for breath! Professional rider or not, she should've been prepped beforehand and made aware of the sensitivity (or lack thereof) of the mics. It's no use having a professional rider to give commentary when said commentary can't be heard! The sad thing is that the odd time I could hear her, her comments were astute and insightful. She's unfortunately just too soft-spoken in this instance.

@@kennedyalex4523 ok…if a 1500 lbs animal doesn’t want to do something…you can be damn sure they won’t do it. For example - me (a 120 lbs 30 year old woman) can’t make my horse do anything he doesn’t want to do. It’s a partnership. It’s about trust. We need to have a bond or else we’d get nowhere. My horse has refused jumps before. More times than I can count. Trust me…it’s 100% a partnership

@@luckusa3988 As we saw with Hillary and Paoli, their horses were uncomfortable with the jumps and refused to execute. The rest had very few issues and as the other commenter above me said, the horses are wise enough to understand their own capabiities. They won't intentionally hurt themselves and, in any good partnership between horse and rider, are fully in control of themselves. No horse will jump higher than they are comfortable.
