Yeah, I remember from when I was a kid in California how spikey these trees are!! If you can, you should show what one of these GIANT cones look like!! We were warned to stay out from under a large one some friends had then. If one of those green cones fell from the tree it might seriously hurt or kill if it fell a long way down!! I'm lucky in the cane department. Just harvested our bamboo patch. The hard cold kills off the foliage. So I cut them in the cold winter years. We use them in the greenhouse and out side for our plants. This is the reason I planted it in the first place. A renewable resource!! And saves money! And have them in all sizes. Very convenient!! Your trees look great and healthy!!! Happy growing guys!!! Thanks for sharing!!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks, to across the emerald isle, have a wonderful day!!! Peace, Love, Plants!!!✌️💖🌵🍀🌻🌱🌾🥀🪴🌸🌿🌷🌴💐🌹🌳😃👍

Thats so awesome you have lots of Bamboo canes you can use in your greenhouse and in the park, oh my golly yes the cones can be like bricks if they fall on top of us, and I wouldn't want to get too close under these trees when they are heavy with cones LOL! so happy you loved the repotting of these cuties Clyde :-D I don't know where we are going to plant them when they get bigger haha, we will be mailing them to Morris Park haha, thanks so much Clyde for your wonderful Friendship and amazing comment and support and for watching, and Hans and I are sending you and beautiful Deb and all the pets and plants all lots of love and happiness and PEACE, LOVE, PLANTS and PLANT POWER to Morris Park for a fantastic Thursday XXXX

Beautiful plants ! 💕🌲 💕 So I had to check; it this what we call "apeskrekk" (= monkey's scare) here in Norway ? And yes, it is Araucaria araucana ! 🤗 They are beautiful trees, but can get humongous, up till 40m tall when planted in the ground. We had one, and it got too big for a small garden. But maybe having it as a potted plant is the solution... 👍
@desertplantsofavalon Жыл бұрын
Thats so wonderful you had one of these awesome trees too Brit :-D yes the biggest problem is that they can grow so humongous haha, there is a massive one in one of our Neighbours gardens that is towering above their house like a skyscraper haha, I think having it potted will definitely slow down its growth, thanks so much Brit for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a fantastic Thursday XXXX

I'm curious what temps this tree can tolerate? I would have sworn I read they were temperate climate trees that couldn't tolerate below 50F. However , recently I was running through YT videos and someone mentioned in a vid that they were hardy enough for -20C. So...that's a pretty big difference. The reason I started looking is I have one that may be 5yr old in a pot that the top seems to have died and it is starting to sprout like crazy from the bottom. So it's more of a monkey bush. But I bring it in every winter when it stays below 50F or 20C. It doesn't seem to enjoy that much.
@desertplantsofavalon11 ай бұрын
Hi there, the good news is these Trees are very cold hardy and I keep mine outdoors in winter, last week it dropped to -5c / 23F for a few nights and they were covered in snow and they were absolutely fine, I used to move them indoors at night in winter for the first 5 years if they had forecast minus temps, only because they were still young but after 5 years they can survive very low night temps, if yours is about 5 years old i would keep it outdoors in winter and only move it indoors if the night temps are going to drop lower than -5c, but after 5 years they will be absolutely fine outdoors in winter at many degrees below freezing, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a terrific Tuesday XXXX

Hi there, unfortunately there is not much you can do to encourage faster growth as only time will make them grow bigger and taller, but because your Monkey puzzle tree is planted in the ground and not in a pot it will definitely grow much faster than if it was in a pot, thanks so much for watching and have a fantastic Tuesday XXXX :-D
