I can see from this waigeo island has suffered substantial ecological damage from resource extraction and development. All is not lost however. Some of the island IS legally protected. Demand the Indonesian govt do a better job of protecting these nature reserves. Demand the island's coasts and coral reefs be protected. Encourage enlightened sustainable ecotourism which can generate outside support for environmental protection and create funds for it. Demand the Indonesian govt clean up the damage is has created. The Indonesian govt has made plenty of money in waigeo from mining, logging and other extractive industries, so it can afford to heal waigeo. Nothing in this world lasts forever but waigeo can still be beautiful, if not quite the paradise it may once have been.
