I was born in 1991 My grandmother raised me she was born in 1942 she graduated high school in 1960 and she's the one who introduced me to all this good music cuz she hated new music that's for sure

Yeah... we would have to go back to a time of relative innocence, wouldn't we? So much has happened, it makes me weep. At least because of this forum and others, we can STILL GO THERE and enjoy. I feel bad for kids now. What will they look back on? Hateful lyrics? EXPLICIT sexual references? Sad

aida, I am stuck on this Philadelphia doowop forever. It keeps my heart beating fast from either sad or grand memories. Today, all of the memories are better than grand even with the sad parts....I was invited to appear at the AFEES in Philadelphia two times, and neither visit was pleasant. My best memory of Philadelphia was reporting to 4th and Arch(?) to get aboard the train that took me to Parris Island, South Carolina.

A criminally underrated but fabulous group out of Philly. Great harmonies, melodies and rhythms on everything they did starting with Love My Baby in 1953. One of my very favorite groups throughout the years.

A pretty unusual bass line but it works just great with the rhythm and great harmonies of this fabulous group from Philly. I've loved all their recordings since I first hear False Alarm in around 1961 or so.

Absolutely! First thing I heard them do was Dead Man's Stroll (which apparently was later renamed to Midnight Stroll due to some weird complaints regarding the dead?). I was about 10 and was already totally hooked on Doo-Wop and crazy about the Revels! My friends thought I was nuts. HA HA! They were right!!!! Thanks for the great post!

"You Lied To Me" is the one Re-Vels 45 on Teen that I don't have. Yes, a lot of releases on Teen and Sound were pop but both labels put out some surprises

Unfortunatly Larry i've researched lots of my go to authoritative doo wop sites and can find no information on whether any of the original members survive today. this wonderful doo wop group originated in philly and recorded this classic in 1955.

Good question. I'm not sure myself, but I usually hear their name pronounced as "Ruhvels." Ronnie I had the group live at UGHA in the 90's and that's how he pronounced their name
