Dimash is Kazakh. This was his first performance in the singer competition show. He was new to the Chinese audience. I think that he chose that song to show his range and capabilities considering that he is competing against professional singers already known in China and that he was the youngest (22 yr old).

Thank you for your great reaction! Dimash is incredible, beyond amazing! Dimash is now 24 years old from Kazakhstan, in the Singer period he was 22. He speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian!! Every performance on the singer he must learned the song in one week! That's impressive!! He sings in many languages, but only speaks 2. He is now busy to learn English and Manderin! It is important that you watch Dimash's performances in order! Later you understand why!! Every performance is different and amazing! You will be surprised each time!! And WOW I love your informed reaction, so educational. His range is immense. He has at least one voice teacher with him always and studied music in university. He was 22 in this performance...and he is a walking textbook on technique IMO! (been studying voice and music since he was 5). Yes, he plays several instruments. He once said if you cut open his heart, you would find music. He is from Kazakhstan. Only a couple published (that is, performed) original songs so far. "War and Peace" is the best. Well, don't want to overwhelm your comment section with info, I just become happy and chatty when I find new people meeting Dimash.

This was actually the first performance for the China competition's new season of The Singer 2017 [which was why the crowd was excited for it to start at the beginning] -- but what is often overlooked is that he was pretty much a complete unknown to that audience [he's from Kazakhstan and didn't speak any Chinese at that time], and he was the least expected or anticipated to do much since he was pretty much unknown to the audience [which is why he was placed to go first -- the most anticipated singers were set to perform last on that episode]. This was the first time the China audience and other performers in the back room on the show heard him sing. He is improving all the time (including his French pronunciation as confirmed by my French wife). If you watch his recent performance of that song at the Slavic Bazaar you will see his improvement. Ps ..yes he is a Musician and play piano,dombra and few other.. This is the first apparition at the Show The Singer and was unknown to the audience..he was definitely burning a lot if emotions..after the second episode he became very famous in China... The song is actually a famous French song..very hard song to sing..and a beautiful emotional one... About his French...I don't even want to go there because he is Kazakh and I love the music so..I am appreciating the.music...his English was bad at the Singer 2017..however Dimash is a perfectionist and take English and Chinese lessons since the Singer 2017...

Thank you for nice reaction. This is from last year singer 2017 competition. Dimash was 22 and the youngest and first non Chinese person to be on the show. SOS was episode 1 which the audience nor the other contestants have ever seen or heard him sing. The other contestants are established singers in China. Thank you for your great reaction. This amazing singer has a ridiculous range, from F2 to D8, or five octaves and four notes. Listening to Dimash can become very addictive. Almost every performance blows the mind. This was episode one of the Chinese talent show "The Singer" in 2017, a show for professional singers rather than beginners. I love hearing people with vocal backgrounds do reactions. Loved all your comments. Dimash plays several instruments, piano, drums, and dombra that I know of. He's written original songs like his Unforgettable Day which he sang on the Singer 2017. Both his parents are well-known singers in Kazakhstan. He began training musically at age 5 and has never stopped. He works with vocal coach's. He's won several major music awards in Asia like best foreign artist, best new artist, best film song, best video game song, and more. He was even offered to join the Astana Opera House but he declined for a solo career where he could mix opera, pop, and traditional music into his own unique style. He calls his musical style Neo-classical.

Excellent reaction! Yes I agree 100% with your assessment. He is a unique singer., This song was Ang and recorded by a French singer Boulaivaine . Dimash sings 12 different languages but he is from Kazakhistan and yrained classically since the age of 5. His parent are both professional singers in Kazakhistan. He was only 22 when he competed in 2017 The Singer in China and now he just turned 24. He had performed as a guest in 2018 The Singer and performed Hello by Lionel Richie and you will notice a great difference in the quality of his tone, more mature I should say.cplease continue your reactions on Dimash performances in The Singer 2017. thanks for this...yes, this is his first performance on Singer 2017, Chinese contest for professionals...most songs are covers however he performs his own song, Unforgettable Day, in ep 10...he wrote this while still in his teens (he was 22 during the show, he's now turned 24)...he has been training all his life and plays many instruments...he is fluent in Kazakh and Russian (currently working on English and Mandarin) but sings in 9 languages...all his performances are astounding and surprising and different...btw he has become a mega-star in China in spite of only finishing in 2nd place...phew, that should hold you for now...I look forward to more D reactions 👍👍👍😊

Great reaction and analysis! It's always fun to watch first reactions to Dimash. The song SOS is from the French rock opera Starmania written in 1976. You can check out the many versions of SOS on YT. Dimash recently performed it at the Slavic Bazaar 2018 and he's even better. This is just an introduction to what Dimash can do. Continuing through the Singer performances is a good way to go. Don't miss Episode 4 Late Autumn. It's a favorite of a lot of people. He has a number of very nice duets mostly with female singers. He also does the Diva Dance, the alien song from the movie the 5th Element, the only male singer to pull it off. The version at his Bastau concert is the best.

Dimash’s vocal technique is incredibly agile where he leaps and does vocal jumps with ease, as heard in so many of his songs like SOS and the aria ‘Diva Dance’ from the movie 5th Element. He can delve deep and produce a pure baritone or scale the range and timbre of a soprano effortlessly. Some of the vocal colours I notice and am impressed with, are his ability to produce melodies with a silvery tone where it seems to float effortlessly up and down and then suddenly transition into a more strident and impassioned plea. He does it tastefully, not merely to show off. Dimash is a musician first and a singer second. That is why he is able to show off his skills so effectively. His vocal technique serves the music. And there is no denying the stage charisma. There are singers who may have his technical capability but they fizzle out because their musicality and charisma are not as convincing. Dimash`s all! Like a swan on a lake ....perfect!

He has been taking vocal lessons ever since he was 5 and he is trained classically. Yes... is and not was coz even until now he is still practising and improving his voice. He never stops learning. Edectively he is a musician very young from Kazakhstan, menber of family of musicians, and he plays many instruments (piano, dombira, drums, guitar). In this show form china he was invited to participate like guest staying in the second place after of thirteen rounds, but he became an idol in China and every time is more known and famous in the rest of the world thank to the net. This was his firts performance staying first in this round. This song is of a canadian composer and is very difficult of sing, but his voice and his range is out of this world.

Unless you can sing like Dimash I have a hard time with anyone who critiques him...but he has said he can handle constructive criticism...he either takes it or leaves it....He also did this song his way...The producers of the show tried to arrange it their way... thinking no one would really like it....He was 1st in audience choice and told not to go anywhere without body guards....LOL...Dimash is young..22 when he did this show..now he is 24...has sang this song in so many venues...so I'll probably watch you again as you follow Dimash...Everyone has said and I agree...Watch the whole Singer Show...then Bastau ...then whatever...There is so much out there...after his contract is up...No telling where he will be going next....I'm in the USA...waiting...

Dimash has a known range of F2 to D8...no falsetto....He has been professionally trained since the age of 5....This is his own genre of Popera..He was invited to be the lead singer at the 5th largest opera house..but he wanted to branch out into a more current theme...yes, he plays 8+ instruments..piano since 5...he composes, arranges, and after singing this song was invited by the French to sing there, which he did....He has won international awards...He is 22 in this video....He speaks 2 languages, but sings in 8+....so if you continue to watch Dimash..put on your seat belts...and enjoy a mix of genres...

He's now 25, and he stands 6'3". He was born with perfect pitch and literally was singing in his crib, or trying to. This was his first attempt at French, and he does not speak it. He started attending the vocal academy when he was 5, (to his delight) and from that time he has never ceased to train every day for 3-5 hours. His favorite possession as a little child was a bag of old CD tapes, and he could not be parted from it. He performed in at-home shows from the age of 3. He has always had an earnest respect for his music masters, and is deeply grateful for having always been allowed to continue with his singing. He said, "If you looked into my brain, you would find music. If you looked into my heart, you would find music." His doting parents both are in opera. She s a very popular singer, and he composes, directs and produces, but also sings. To see Dimash singing with his parents, just write "Dimash sings with Parents" into KZbin "search." I hope you are able to go and see him in person very soon. I'm in NY State, so close and yet so far, but I live way up near the Canadian border, and it's too far for me to go in a day trip, so I'll have to wait till next time. When you watch Dimash videos, you usually will see a man in the audience, who is intently watching....his son! They are very close, and Papa tries to make it to every performance. Please, if you can, sometimes just listen to the singing, without too much analyzing, so that it's not always work but sometimes just enjoyment. Take care!

his parents are singers. he said that since he knows himself as a person he knows he would be a singer, at 4 he was already in musical school doing concerts. Basically his life is all about music. and his voice is god given, i saw a rare interview where they asked him about his vocal cords, he said is larger than normal, because of this he easily sings like this, and as his life was all about music study, he know a lot of music techniques, plays a lot of instruments, sing in 10 languages, but this is only the beggining, he is 24 yo, imagine this man in his 30's, 40's...

His parents are both Honored Cultural Singers, and yes, Dimash started studying music with the piano very early, winning his first piano competition at age 5. His first major international award was the 2015 Grand Prix at the Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk (there you go, Natalia). And this performance of SOS on Hunan TV in January 21, 2017, catapulted him into world fame. His followers on Weibo exploded literally overnight from 1,000+ to 2.4 million! He was, obviously, classically trained, and while still a student at the KZ National University of the Arts, was offered a place with the National Opera. But he declined it, preferring to go into pop music, as he felt he could help develop a new genre. You were spot on for the instruments: so far he has been seen playing on stage the piano, the don ta and the drums. About the French: he doesn’t speak French, but his pronunciation is much better in various performances of this same song before and after this one. I can only suppose it was stage anxiety that caused him to pronounce the s in vis, and ris, and to mess up some of the lines. His new SOS this year in Vitebsk where he returned as a judge and a guest performer had almost flawless French. About the breathiness: me too, at first it bothered me. Pop singers sing breathily because they are poor at breath control but listeners love it because it sounds more emotional. Dimash is quite able to produce perfectly pure tones, yet he mixes in breathiness for pop effect at will. Also, as you pointed out, he can flip into rock mode and yell out his high notes with an amazing poignant rawness. I love your comments. Some of the most knowledgeable I’ve heard so far! This was his first performance in the competition. I think that bringing out so many weapons right up front was a strategy. We saw the looks of 'shock and awe' on the faces of his competitors. I think he turned them (mostly) into just fans at that point.

У меня нет музыкального образования. Но, я думаю, что оперные певцы ставят свой голос в определённом диапазоне, чтобы исполнять свои партии. То есть они уже не могут брать выше или ниже. Как они могут быть преподавателями, если не услышали уникальности в голосе Димаша. Их реакция, обычная человеческая зависть, что кто-то умеет лучше делать то, что у тебя никогда не получится. Может быть, им стать учениками у Димаша?

Ok, if you wish for more recommendation, I'll let you in on the not so secret realm of KZbin reaction universe. Basically, we have 4 "royalties", artists who generates a lot of hype/buzz/wow factor, due to their vocal skills and artistic performances, thus people like watching reaction videos of their performances. (Simply search in KZbin _"[name] + reaction"_ to verify). Each also has their own loyal and active main fanbase, which if you play your cards right, will grant you lots of likes and subs ;) . They are: 1. King *Dimash* (whom you've met.) - I'm pretty sure his fandom already filled you in his complete bio ;D . 2. Queen *Sohyang* (South Korea) - If superb technique is your thing, you're gonna want to react to her. (Bring tissue, just in case. She's known to gut reactors emotionally in some of her performances. I'm not kidding.) According to experts, she's the best technical singer alive today, who is still active and at her prime. 3. Prince *Hua Chenyu* (China) - The most recent inductee. His buzz and hype come from his versatility and artistry. Great vocals too ofc, although not quite at the same *vocal monster* level as the other 3 royalties. 4. Princess *Morissette* (Philippines) - The next Mariah Carey. 'Nuff said. If you want to avoid randomly picking out their performances as your initial, first impression introduction video, I could recommend their specific performance too. I feel I take too much of your time already. Sorry for the long post.

Господа, но Димаш не сдаёт тест по французкому языку, а Поёт.я слушала певцов- французов. Их было 7 или больше, но ни один из них не смог СПЕТЬ НОТЫ автора, даже на чистом французком языке! А вы на чистом казахском сможете спеть или тоже " так- сяк"? Все коучи слушают ноты, а не знания языков.Димаш пел эту песню впервые на этой публике и его никто не знал; даже кто то из зала выкрикнул на китайском языке:" ТЫ КТО?".Это я о контакте со зрителями напоминаю.Зато по окончанию песни какой шквал КОНТАКТОВ был!!! И Димаша после этого исполнения, французы пригласили к себе, чтоб он спел им эту песню... ТОЛЬКО ЭТУ ПЕСНЮ!!!! И в каком восторге слушали и плакали!!! И НИКТО не заметил его неправильный французкий!!!!! Они ИСПОЛНЕНИЕ высоко оценили!!!Поищите на просторах ютюба этот эпизод и попытки исполнителей этой песни.Тогда, я надеюсь, вы согласитесь, что конкурс был МУЗЫКАЛЬНЫЙ!!! Извините, что высказываю своё мнение- имею право, как и вы.ещё --5я и 6я октавы у мужчины и женщины не могут быть равноценным и ( это про технические коментарии ваши).
