They have this festival in The Chum Ta Bong and Mae Pern villages in the Nakhon Sawan province. The people living in the area originate from Isaan villages and keep their culture alive celebrating the festivals of their homeland's. The Blackpowder for the rockets and fireworks is made in local villages by a man with the knowledge, he's easy to spot, as he's usually covered in charcoal dust 😊

during the Second World War We light this rocket into the sky. When Allied planes flew into the area The Japanese Empire understood that Thailand was attacking Allied aircraft. Allied pilots understood that Thailand was sending military signals to the pilots. Thailand we want to be neutral We agree to be a two-headed bird.

Highly educated Thai farmers, 90 proof home brew whisky, beer, more beer, rickety towers built by the aforementioned, gun powder, naked flames, and 200kg metal projectiles. Sounds like a recipe for fun - just refer to 3:35 😮 Where do I sign up?

What goes up must come down... I wonder who retrieves all the debris scattered around and if any damage is done to homes and people. Heads up! Great video btw.

I don't exactly know, but in some countries it's probably hard to tell what debris has recently fallen and what was there all along.

Every village that will do it has a boon bang fai tradition. Will have to do Notify the district and provincial officials To coordinate and notify airlines flying through that area to change flight routes The fireballs will adjust their trajectory to mountain path or natural water source But there have been some accidents Thai houses in the Isan region are 2-story wooden houses. The villagers sit and do other activities under the house for safety.

"The Legend of Bung Fai Phaya Nark (Rocket) is a tradition originating from a fairy tale about a war between humans, animals (toad) and a deity over water, which was controlled by a deity. As they quarreled, a war broke out, but eventually they made a treaty to end the fighting and agreed that the deity would send rain. However, during that time there was no internet, so they had to find a way to communicate by shooting Bung Fai (fire rockets) to deliver the message."
