This was so much fun. The hosts and volunteers and all the people at CBC St. John's were wonderful to us and it was free trip from Nova Scotia for Ian, David and me, with the team coach Helen Tower and her husband Bill, to cap off a final year at Yarmouth High. Our youngest member Becky was just in Grade 10. What an introduction to the hospitality of Newfoundland. Great memories. Thank-you, Pam Reardon

1:05 - Bob Cole, long-time voice of CBC's 'Hockey Night in Canada'...called at least one Stanley Cup Finals game from 1980 until 2008...Jim Hughson now has that honour.

The legendary Bob Cole, arguably his most famous moment was the Infamous exhibition game between the Philadelphia Flyers and the Soviet Red Army. The Soviets nearly quit because the Flyers were being too rough, So Cole says "They're going home, They're going home!" and then calls out the Soviets citing what team Canada dealt with in the summit series.

That is correct Ron Cally High for 25 pts. LOL! That line came from an old CODCO skit from the 1980's poking fun of the High School game show, "Reach for the top." Loved "Reach for top" btw.

Wow! Though the questions and hairstyles may seem dated and bad now, there was a lot behind this show. First of all, it was a Canadian show that did not reference American content. Secondly, some of the questions were significant from a Canadian perspective. How many acres are in 10 square miles? 6400. Just silly? No! When the railways across Canada were built, the government gave the companies the land on either side and it was divided into sections. 640 acres in every square mile section. Today, Canadians know American politicians, movie stars, and beverages better than Americans do!

An early video recording format I can think of called EIAJ could record in either B&W or color depending on what model was available. en(dot)wikipedia(dot)org/wiki/EIAJ-1 Sometimes it could be the reception itself or the wear of the tape that leads to the color going out as well.

Alex Trebek should have been asking the questions on this national series--not this Guest? character. He had the charisma of a "wet noodle".
