Thank you very much for all your explanations ! You did a very great job ! One note : For one of you which get a "Watchman denied access", I deleted the LaunchAgents folder in my User/library and then re-create a new one from my desk that I paste in the User/library. And it's worked for me !

The only point where we gonna be stuck is the ruby version so follow these 3 steps on the Mac OS terminal: - brew install rbenv ruby-build - rbenv install 2.6.7 ( your desired version) - eval "$(rbenv init - zsh)"

The potential hurdle lies in ensuring the appropriate Ruby version. To navigate this, execute the following three steps in the Mac OS terminal: 1. brew install rbenv 2. eval "$(rbenv init -)" 3. rbenv install 2.7.4 4. rbenv global 2.7.4 Additionally, you have the flexibility to modify the installation version based on any encountered errors. Executing this command will now proceed without errors:- sudo gem install -n /usr/local/bin ffi cocoapods

on an intel mac, once you fix the ruby version error you get the next "glog" error when doing pod install: Installing fmt (6.2.1) Installing glog (0.3.5) [!] /bin/bash -c set -e #!/bin/bash Couldn't install Pods. Updating the Pods project and trying again... Command `pod install` failed.

I fixed any problem ,,, new Xcode doesn't have components. My iOS sim said it failed... I also had a ruby+gem file version error. In terminal, I redownloaded ruby and version managed it to match the gem file and it got me up and running

for MAC AİR 13 i do all things in video than i ran this commands in iterm2 : f you have problems on M1 with the pod install command, you need to install it via rosetta2: sudo arch -x86_64 gem install ffi arch -x86_64 pod install then it worked thank you .

ok so for react native for ios ruby version installed should be 2.7.6 as mentioned in the docs make sure you install the proper version. rbenv can be used to install a specific version of ruby. that was the only error i was facing. wonderful tutorial 🙌

@@dewaleolaoye yes that's the issue I was discussing use a Ruby version manager like rbenv to install Ruby version 2.7.6 it's mentioned in the react native getting started official docs only this version works for react native iOS on Mac

If your cocoapods dependencies installation is failing when running "npx react-native init " try "sudo gem install cocoapods" instead of "sudo gem install -n usr/local/bin ffi cocoapods". This worked for me.

I encountered the same issues. It feels very hacky and unstable to setup android studio at the moment, that's why I didn't include it. It is definetly possible, but multiple solution might work. I will do it when it becomes more stable

From your experience, is 8GB RAM with M2 sufficient for Xcode and react native iOS development only? I have no plans to work with Android.

Depends on what you are building. 8gb for xcode will get annoying as the project gets larger. React native on vscode is my preference. 16 gb is recommended. 32 and you'll never have issues. 16 should be fine though, 8 is okay for simpler apps but generally not great for intermediate devs. If you're a beginner you should be fine but you will want to upgrade in a year or two.

Judging by all the comments about failures with ruby version missmatch, gemfiles, can't do pod install and react-native init not creating projects... I assume this does not work with the latest react native, xcode and an Intel mac?
