Really interesting Instead of using React Portals, why can't I use React Fragments? i.e React Portal

You can, however, this wont place your Modal component as a child of the body tag

The idea of React Portals is so that they are placed outside the parent in your component composition. Using React Fragments would mean they are still in the parent component
