Either I'm weird, or a living testament to SNSD's extraordinary appeal, because I'm a nearly 60 year old English guy living in the US , who pretty much stopped paying attention to any pop or rock music in the mid-1890's, but accidentally became a fan of SNSD---JUST THIS YEAR! It seems a bit ridiculous not only given my age, but also because I've never been a "huge fan"-type of person of any group or singer. These girls ( accomplished women now, of course) though, really are "something else" (IGAB lyric right there! ). As so many dedicated fans have already said many times, their music and their personalities are just so joyous and uplifting. The fact that I don't know what the lyrics actually are most of the time seems irrelevant, I just feel the intent or sentiment of the songs and their performances. Anyway... regarding ITNW: The song is youthful and positive, but also introspective, philosophical and mature--- a surprising combination given the state of female K-Pop at the time which I understand was also often referred to as "bubble-gum pop"---"Kissing You" being a prime example. ITNW's lyrics are deeper and more thoughtful than the visuals of the MV suggest---the ballad version highlights that aspect. Really, it's two complementary songs in one. One other thing about ITNW that impresses me is the choreography; sure it's complicated, but the moves are big and there aren't any 'rests or poses. It takes a lot of energy to do that . It's just a great performance, and really remarkable as a debut. No wonder they were so beat after their School of Rock performance and encore. (notwithstanding the air--conditioning failure). Anyway, years late, thanks to KZbin and fans such as yourselves , I've become a fan myself--not just of their music and performances, but of the individuals---they are just lovely people, talented, hardworking and so damned funny too. I do hope they can get together again in the next few years and put on a re-union concert (with some new songs/performances as well as the classics---it would be epic.

Nice reaction and analysis of ITNW. Just in case new viewers are curious. here are a list of things related to the song. 1. Into The New World was practiced by Girls' Generation for one entire year before their official debut. 2. Into The New World debut was initially resisted by many people in South Korea because they thought Girls' Generation was just a pointless distraction from the mainstream boy groups back then. 3. Into The New World subsequently made it into the training regime for more than 150 girl groups. 4. Into The New World remains one of the hardest cover songs to date because of the strong vocals and stamina involved. 5. Into The New World has risen to become one of the most popular social activism song in South Korea. 6. Girls Generation has never performed the original Into The New World version after 2014. Only the ballad version exists afterwards. Have fun exploring the entire repertoire of music from Girls' Generation, widely acclaimed to be the living legends of Kpop itself.

I've been a Sone since 2011, back I only came to appreciate this song early last year. Now, I feel like crying whenever I listen to this; even more so when watching the mv. Anyways, this is one of the best reactions to ITNW that I've seen, so thanks for making my day.

For me, it was The Boys but just their name tho but they kinda stuck with me that time. I had girl cousins, so, yeah. Years on, life happened. Then I stumbled to The Boys again. Never looked back since then.

the comment about Yuri being pushed aside as a vocalist! tHAT! she was second strongest behind Taeyeon when they debuted, but SM never worked on her, and let her continue with a more weaker and nasal tone
