Yes, it’s about weight.
@jijitters3 ай бұрын
It would have held their weight if they had the time and health to carefully arrange themselves in a specific way and not move, but that's pretty hard to do calmly while freezing and drowning. The emotion of the scene and the act of sacrifice were obviously more important in the writing than door specs.

Technically the door was large enough for both Rose and Jack to fit but their combined bodyweight would have been too heavy for both of them to float on the door above the water line. The door would still float but both of their bodies would have been submerged in about 1ft of water so they both would have perished due to immersion hypothermia in about 15 to 45 minutes.

With as many channels as you guys have now, you should do a first time movie watch channel. Clearly you have a number of reactors who haven't seen classic movies, you could simply do a list of great movies, find out who amoung your group hasn't seen that one and set it up for them to watch it. Maybe even have one reactor who has seen and loves that particular movie watching it with them like there sharing it with them for the first time.

I'm surprised that nobody remembers that in Titanic, the part where they are in the water rose and jack tried to both get on the floating door but it started to sink so jack being the selfless one got off and let rose stay on. He sacrificed himself to save her., otherwise they would've both been killed.
@jijitters3 ай бұрын
They both could've fit, and the director has even acknowledged (after the Mythbusters episode) that he should've just made the door a little smaller so this wouldn't have turned into a debate because it was written that way on purpose, but the door they chose happened to technically be big enough for 2.
