Your confusion regarding the popularity of some of these anime is funny because in examples like Code Geass, Mirai Nikki and SAO there's no way you wouldn't remember them if you were there. They were shows with popularity on the level of Chainsaw Man but in the 2000's and 10's. Anyone who was part of the then-growing otaku community at that time was obsessed with some of those examples. Even creating trends that would later become massive things. I mean, the singer LiSA didn't become famous with Demon Slayer, many of us became obsessed with her with her first hits in SAO and Fate/Zero. Without a doubt reactions to the openings of all the anime mentioned (be it their TV versions or the official videos of the artists) would be welcome, including Durarara and K-On! as personal recommendations. Naruto! I remember watching Shippuuden, and there was one episode each week... watching the Sasuke vs Itachi fight like that was torture xD I loved it soo much! The anime was probably at peak during the Pain - era. So well written villains. Madara was extremely cool as well, but I'll always prefer Pain and his THEME SONG - GIREI

One not on here and I will argue is amazing anime is 86. It is only 23 episodes; you can skip the half episodes they are just filler recap ones. Fantastic graphics, and storytelling. If you loved the music for Attack on Titan, you will love the music of 86, it is composed by Hiroyuki Sawano.

Biss! I'd recommend you Violet Evergarden! It's one of most beautiful, emotional animes out there, about love, war, loss, and moving on. I want to be clear: it makes everyone cry, but it has a good ending! It's only 13 episodes long and a movie perfectly ends the anime. The plot in general: a nameless girl, an orphan, who was found in the warzone was trained to be a killer-machine. She was used as a tool by his general, who gave her away as a "gift" to his brother, Gilbert. Gilbert treats the girl as a human being and even gives her a name: Violet. During the war's last major battle, the man leads the charge, but it's a trap. They manage to win there, but he is severely wounded, just like Violet. His last wish was for Violet to keep living, and he told her that he loves her. Some time passes: the injured girl was in a hospital for many months. She lost both of her arms, and she has mechanical hands now. When she recovers, the war is already over. Gilbert disappeared after their last battle. Violet doesn't find her place in the now peaceful world: she was a trained soldier, she lived to follow orders. Gilbert's friend, a kind, caring man takes her in, and gives her a job in his post office, where Violet wants to work as Marionette. The Marionettes are highly trained writers who write letters for those who can't write or can't express their thoughts and feelings properly. The reason why Violet wants to do this: she wants to understand the meaning of Gilbert's last words: what love means. No one ever loved her, and she needs to learn how to express her feeling and how to understand others. This is without spoilers the plot. I hope my grammar won't make it look like too bad, because the anime is a MUST watch, and not long at all.
