Bro, that crochet technique the dude in blue uses (and the other people to, but he's in beast mode), that shit broke my hair and half of 2 of my dreads just died and fell off. :( IF YOU GO CROCHET, CHILL, MAKE IT CALM AND SLOW. the sound they describe as "tick tick tick" is YOUR HAIR getting cut and murdered by the needle, only to get stuck between live hair, only to become stinky and extra dry , it's going to be a lot of die hair hanging from live hair, not enough roots, believe me, that's not what you want! it's just dead weight, and heaven for humidity and fungi after showers. "THIS IS CRAZY FOR ME" you say it bro. GREAT VIDEO KNOT, BLESSINGS FROM COLOMBIA.
@Desert3713 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. But to be precise there is no "life hair" because all hair is dead. Just the root is "alive". There are no blood vessels or anything else transporting something IN the hair. So dreaded hair not connected to the root doesn't get more dry or stinky (?) than the rest.

"Double hooked, tripple hooked, JABBING AWAY !!! 🥵 To get this done ... what's ... ???" "Everyone just JABBIN UP ..." ... "I just saw a rubber band be put in there ... what's ?!?!?!" Bruuuh ... I'm diiieeeing at his commentary, 😂 and his face is in so much pained disbelief hahaha oh my heart! I even saw a guy with TWO doubled crotche sticks, just goin HAAAM !!! hahaha I felt the same way watchin this brotha. They goin TOO HAM. (As MiMi looks at the camera whilst jabbin, leaving her poor hand and fingers in jeopardy of gettin stabbed.) The loc might look good NOW, but that much force, repeatedly, might leave the loc to get weaker over time. Crotcheting locs is dope, just have to do it carefully. I like how Gunther goes about it. This was ok too, but they left the build-up. 😶 Side note: I'm dying inside from the fact that this man didn't get an ACV rinse, Doctor Bronners DEEP CLEANSE, a sit and soak, tripple wash ... sooomething to get that build-up out FIRST. They need a certified hair washer (or to just do a deeper wash themselves), like Yannie has Jimmy. He could charge more, and the hair would be so much cleaner, & healthier. It's like he just trapped a buncha gunk into new locs. 🙁 Yannie be speakin truth though. Some people just tryna get ya cash, not really carin about the health of your babies, or you. (But I know people just tryna hustle to not be broke and live a good life. It would just be way doper if EVERY loctition cared about the BIGGER PICTURE. Hair HEALTH.) Doin ya own locs is such a blessing. I can't wait to post an update of my babies. I'm free forming and I LOVE them. This video really cracked me up man, so imma have to sub. Hey you guys Im a locitian out of Virginia, I went to Val To get my locs wick I had one Fall out but since I’m already educated on how to maintain I was able to fix my wick by myself. yes it takes a crotchet needle to do this job it’s very dangerous and takes patient technique to do neatly, without hurting yourself yes this technique can damage the hair depending on the stabbing technique it makes the hair soft as ever but you must go back and tighten the hair with a different crotchet methods

Disclaimer. I'm not a locktician. I combined a couple dreads and I didn't rough them up like that. I think they just rough it up to fix it up but I think they shouldn't have started at the roots and go down. They should have basically opened up the dread from the top to the roots carefully. I didn't do any of that and it worked too. That looks super painful. Not even physical pain just broken and ripped hair pain.
@stephaniesheeks13103 жыл бұрын
As a loctician, I don't recommend doing this. It rips the hair and will cause the loc to be weakened. Also it looks as if he has tension alopecia. The white stuff in his hair could be locking powder and not buildup also.

Lol at a lot of these comments. If you’ve never seen the wick process, which most haven’t because it’s a SFL thing that has gone somewhat mainstream, you really don’t have a clue. Further, most are just regurgitating what their “loctictian” has told them to keep them in their reservation book. Wicks were born from a lot of our reluctance to rely on “locticians”, and have just evolved to the current form, as wicks were not always in the form which they are now but were actually a variety of sizes with the common denominator being that they were free formed “WICKED” dreads. What a lot of people call “congos” and “fingers” were commonplace a long time ago in the SFL dread community, and simply a culmination of taking your wicks to the extreme. There’s locs - the nowadays mainstream hair style, and there’s dreads - the time honored lifestyle. I’m on my third set of dreads, and have NEVER desired “locs”, but I am digging this evolution of “wicks” and plan to join the wave. I hope that no one is offended, as I felt the need to inform the uninformed after seeing so many comments on many videos with the same sentiment when the majority are not even learned about this process nor its beginnings.

They didn’t wick his hair right at all. They are literally just ripping his hair apart as they jab the crochet needle in. Yes it will still stay as a wick but it ruins the integrity of the wick on the inside. You’re supposed to go slow and twist and tighten the loc as you go not just jab excessively. In my opinion they have no idea what they are doing.

He did it wrong, you wanna do it right at the top and you only need to go maybe halfway down. And after about a month you can cut it out as your roots should naturally start to congo. After that it's best to just leave it to lock together as fast as it wants to, I've had locks congo as fast as 6 months and some I've had fingers on for years. All freeform are beautiful in my opinion, if you wanna manipulate that's fine but I think your hair knows what's best

The crochet ‘technique’ these people are using is SO DAMAGING! If hosed correctly, less invasively, crocheting can be a helpful tool, but this is disintegrating his locs! Also, if they are going to town on WET HAIR that is even WORSE, as hair is far more fragile when wet!

Truthfully that's damaging the hair, and Rastafarian have wigs created from free form. it is a spiritual thing and offense to people like me who is from the islands and practices this religion. that's my how it is. Yet everyone that is not Black or from Africa sure do want to be like us and still our culture and erase our history. no white person or caucus or Asian that does not have nappy hair like us should have lots. Th term dread is also offensive when talking about locs. this is a religious thing and for blacks or decedentsfrom Africa or the Caribbean. That is all the truth, if you are paying respect to the culture go to Africa or Caribbean or a person from those places. or Go to a rstafari priest or chief and see what they say. But everything is about cultural appropriation and for the money. Disrespect to the Rastafari Culture.
