You should start with the orignal Dragon Ball since its the start of the story Skipping to Z means your missing on essentially half a story

You'll probably have a bunch of people telling you to start with Z, because it's a favorite and that's what most of us in the west started with. But to get the full impact of the franchise, you should start at original Dragon Ball, from the beginning. Just bear in mind that the vibe will change over time. It starts as more of a comedic, mystical adventure, then becomes a martial arts action series, then a sci-fi space opera epic with the fate of multiple worlds hanging in the balance once you hit DBZ. Certain aspects admittedly haven't aged as well, but with an open mind and some patience, you'll get to experience one of the greatest stories ever told in its full glory.

I should also say, when you get to DBZ, please don't watch the original broadcast. Watch Dragon Ball Z Kai (it's just called Dragon Ball Kai in Japanese). It's a remastered version that adheres more to the original manga story, meaning there's a lot less padding and filler. And as someone who grew up watching the original and loving it, I say this with full honesty: it's borderline unwatchable these days with how they drag it out. Kai clears the original, trust me, you'll thank me later.

​@@BeyondBlue22I feel like original broadcast has more emotions when it comes to VAs since it's their first time doing the lines, and Kai is good but not that good since VAs got older I know Kai pace is better but when it comes moments that hits Z really do it (I'm talking about Japanese Dub) but if he watched Kai all good, it always depends on the person

Dragon ball is one of my childhood animes and I grew up with the Spanish version of those japanese openings. About how to start I recommend: 1) Dragon ball 2) Dragon ball Z 3) Dragon ball super with the movies. 4) Dragon ball GT only if you want and after finishing super( my reason is because is not considered part of the canon anymore).
