I use Kick 2/3 to make snares all the time. It’s just a sine generator plus a sampler after all. I do like being able to phase align all the parts of drums which I used to do manually on 3 different tracks

Current 2.0 It has that ripple phaser, morph eq etc inside it and tons of sick presets. My fave new plugin...

I like Minimal Audio. I like putting Rift on guitar (I am a guitarist). But Current is probably the most full featured of the plugs they make.

@@masterofreality230 well yes, because it has all their other plugins inside it pretty much. Rift is the Polar Distortion, and Morph EQ is in there, the Ripple Phaser... etc. You could literally drop your guitar recording into the sampler oscillator and put it through all that shit lol.

The current focus on sound, ready made soundbeds and "flutter' effects with plugins makes me think these software companies more and more are catering towards the "no musical idea" crowd who think they can replace (the lack of) musical ideas with walls of sound.

I love Lair! It's one of my fave reverbs now. Very versatile, and can be real dark. Kick synthesis, I like that much more than kick samples because I can design just the kick I want. Why no samples, because samples are so annoying to dig through. But I won't be getting Kick 3, barely use Kick 2 already (which I own). I've been using Drumazon 2 a lot because I like the 909 so much, and now with Bitwig's 808 and 909 drum engines, I started using those instead. Also, Vult Knock is amazing! I'm using that in VCV Rack. Finally, RANDOM Metal: I finally caved while watching this video and got the bundle with RANDOM. Such interesting plugins! I love physical modelling in general.

Totape8 is easily the best sounding tape (and Dolby-A!) emulation I've ever used, and that demo of it was easily the worst demo of a plugin I've ever seen. Like he clearly hasn't put in even the most basic work to read a couple paragraphs about what the parameters even do (he doesn't even know that the neutral position for all of them is 0.5). Honestly wouldn't be entirely surprised if he recorded the script first and then had an intern capture some video that sort of matched up - it's that bad.

I think Andrew must be biased towards uniquely styled plugins with lots of visual feedback and graphic elements. Most of them are tools that can be used in some sophisticated IDM/glitch/experimental music and I don't really feel a need to get any of those because it's just not my cup of tea. Also most of his descriptions sound like paid ads, idk man...

I spent $250 on Devious Machine’s Everything Bundle last year and that came with multiple badass plugins. Also bought Baby Audio’s bundle and Transit 2 was an additional upgrade cost so in the end (not sure of the exact numbers), Transit 2 was definitely more expensive, and that was with solid deals.
