Avi has created his own rabbit hole since going solo. And he's amazing live, of course. I saw him 3 times back in 2019 (recorded all 3, up in a playlist on my YT channel), and he's said that "Change" is his favorite song to do live, because of how satisfying it is when the audience sings along all the way through. And yes, his huge talent was being wasted in PTX, and it had apparently come to the point that they didn't want to do any of his songs because they were "too emotional" and not "pop-py" enough for where they were heading. His songs are almost entirely original, he does all the vocals and effects (except for a bit of organ and tambourine in "Change") and he has a new album due out very soon. A song he wrote before leaving PTX that was released as Avriel & The Sequoias is "Quarter Past Four", a favorite of his devoted fans as it speaks to anxiety and depression, and moving past it. Many of his songs do reference such inner struggles. "I'll Get By" is one of those. But whatever Avi music you choose, you simply can't go wrong. Here's an album promo trailer that his label put out for his "I'll Get By" EP last year. It will tell you what he'd been doing after leaving PTX. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJTLiGiAbdaKbZY

Also, rumor has it that, when Avi announced his departure, the rest of them figured it would be fairly easy to find another bass to replace him. They obviously hadn't stopped to consider exactly what it was Avi had given to the group, not just vocally, but also in composing and arranging. You can hear it in the intricacies and nuances of his performances with PTX and in his own original work.

This angel is one of the best singers on our planet. Reactionaries, who have already made almost 7 thousand reactions (check my playlist) call her the queen of goosebumps! I invite you to discover this wonderful talented young singer. Please make reaction to Diana Ankudinova - (rarest contralto with polyphonic overtones) I was stunned to find that the first performance (Show "You are Super") I heard was when she was 14!!!! She's now 18 and still developing. She sings in Russian, French, English, Spain and Arabic. The covers she performed on that show are very popular on KZbin. Many KZbinrs publish reactions on these performances, which include the ethnic song "River" (in a new musical arrangement), "Blizzard", "Wicked Game", "Human", "Derniere Danse", "Take On Me" and others. Please react to one of Diana's songs and I promise she will surprise you.

Hi. Avi had quite a music background before he got to Pentatonix including classical and opera. Regarding "soul" he was in a jazz group among other singing groups and won a bunch of competitions and awards which is how Scott knew of him to ask him if he wanted to do the Sing-Off with them. You can catch him performing "Summertime" in several different appearances apart from PTX. In his new performances he does primarily all original music but he does 2 covers "Lean On Me" and "House of the Rising Son". I think you would really like his original "Aberdeen". This song is theme music for podcasts Relative Unknown and was recently featured in Resident Alien on SYFY.

@@gailseatonhumbert9199 Right about "Light". It's rather ironic, however, that Scott wanted Avi to sing it because he was so perfect for emotional songs, but then turned around and criticized him for being too sensitive and introverted.

I heard that PTX felt uncomfortable performing songs he wrote because they were so so personal and they felt like that was something they couldn’t do justice. Great reaction. This was literally exactly mine as well. He’s got that sexy soul going on.
@charlottevan_83 жыл бұрын
I don't know that they felt they "couldn't do justice" to Avi's songs. His were indeed personal, but also more serious than they wanted to do. Look at the commercial, more pop-py direction they've gone in. A simple comparison is to watch and listen to the songs PTX and Avi released on the vey same day back in March 2019 - "Come Along" for them, and "Change on the Rise" for him. 180 degrees.
