This song is about a girl going to see her first metal concert on her 15th birthday. It starts out talking about her having her student pass for the trains and traveling to the venue. Then rushing up to the front stage for the show. She says during the show all the "cry babies" disappear. I always took this as all the people in her life that tell her she can't do things like go to a metal concert and get in the pit disappearing from her mind. It also talks about how the experience of the night is like a flower that blooms in the night but is fading away the next morning leaving just a beautiful memory. In the chorus she says her long black hair is disarrayed from headbanging and "dancing" in the mosh pit. Lyticly, it's actually one of my favorite Babymetal songs.

Great reaction Kaitlyn . No need to talk your face said a thousand words. I watched a video a while back of their set at sonisphere in the uk and it's amazing. They were supposed to be on 1 of the smaller side stages , maybe 2000 people ,but were promoted to the main stage on 2 months notice to play in front of 50,000 on the main stage. At the start you had BM fans at the front and a lot of people who were probably seeing them for the first time and really didn't know what was going on but by the end of the set the whole place was rocking. This was their breakthrough concert in the uk and won them a whole new legion of fans. It's over 30+ minutes but i would love to see your reaction to not only their stripped down live set but the way they win over the crowd.🤘

I love your reactions Kaitlyn. These shows can never be repeated as they were. BN have inevitably moved in, but we always have the videos. Also they explore the metal genres from death to djent, from speed to metal math core; it would also be simplistic to say that they combine J-Pop with metal, as ska, dubstep, lounge jazz, rap, reggae have also come into the mix. The song is about a 15 year old girl going to her first metal concert and being introduced to head banging

Queen Su’s death glare is absolutely legendary. I love this song (and this performance of it specifically) so much, I can’t watch this video and not smile no matter how many times I watch it. What I love about them is that none of their songs are truly alike, they hit so many different styles and genres, and they’re all great. I highly recommend you check out “Megitsune”, “Sis Anger”, or “Rondo of Nightmare (w/ Mischief of Gods intro)” next. If you want a cuteness overload, go watch their very first song/music video, titled “Doki Doki Morning”, Su was 13 and the other two (Yui and Moa) were 11. However, there are some severely underrated songs that don’t get the love they deserve, such as “Awadama Fever” or “Uki Uki Midnight”. (might have to link & sync those last two tho) It’s usually a bit difficult to decipher BABYMETAL songs just by the lyrics, because it’s so hard to translate between English and Japanese. Usually in the comments of the video someone will explain it, and surely someone in the comments to your videos will explain it if you ask. BABYMETAL has very loyal fans, so someone here will know. Anyways, great video! Don’t stress about your talking or whatever so much, just do whatever feels natural. Looking forward to the next one!

Great reaction I found the meaning. It narrated a story of a 15-year-old girl who found a legendary neck corset in a mysterious box that fell upon her from above. All of a sudden, the corset jumps out of her hands, wraps around her neck and turns her into "Headbangya!". It's actually a symbol of her going to a rock/metal concert for the first time. The neck corset is there to "train her neck" as she starts to headbang to the metal concert as a first timer. She is dressed normally as she starts to headbang but at the end of the video, you can see she's wearing the costume, indicating end of the performance as she drops on her bed, tired after her first concert and headbanging.

Good reaction. The best translations (complete with explanatory notes and cultural references) for all the songs from the first two albums can be found if you google "du-metal" plus the song title. RoadRunner has posted the link for 'Headbanger already'. 'Headbanger' is about a girl going to her first metal concert on her 15th birthday - but it is more than that. 15 is a significant birthday in Japan (much like 16 where you are) as it is when compulsory education ends, so the girl is no longer a child and must take the next big step choosing further education, a career or something else. So she is aware she will no longer be considered a child and is looking back as it all seemed to be so quick, nothing will ever be the same, so she is going to remember this special night of her 15 for ever and etch it on her heart.

For the future, if you want to analyze their lyrics, the best you’re gonna easily find is someone named “Du-Metal” who does translations/interpretations of the songs online. Like, I just googled “BABYMETAL Headbanger Du-Metal” and it’s the first one that popped up. That’s a decent source, but it is very difficult to properly translate between Japanese and English. Many people in your comments here have already explained what the song is about. I’m sure they’ll probably keep doing that on any future BABYMETAL videos you make if you continue to ask them, BM has some pretty dedicated fans. I enjoyed your reaction a lot, you don’t need to talk overly much in order to convey how you feel. You have a very expressive face (that’s not a bad thing btw) and that is great for videos like there where you don’t even need to talk and the viewer will be able to see how you feel about what you’re seeing. As for song recommendations, their next three most popular/important songs are probably Gimme Chocolate, KARATE, Megitsune in that order. “Gimme Chocolate” is the song that made BABYMETAL an international sensation because that video went viral and spread all over the place, which lead to them being invited to Sonisphere in the UK in 2014 and their performance there on the main stage put a whole new audience on them and everything from there is history. That’s when the started doing these massive world tours and stuff. It probably isn’t their best song, but it is easily their most important song. The story of their performance at Sonisphere in 2014 is really cool actually. This was their first performance overseas, previously they had only been in/around Japan. Su was 16 years old at the time and Yui and Moa were both 14 years old. They were supposed to be on one of the smaller stages, but due to a few different factors, they got bumped to the main stage at the last minute. The three of them have said they were very nervous to go out there. That stage was full of 60,000+ rowdy metal heads who just wanted to see Metallica and Iron Maiden and are known to be huge dicks to bands they don’t know or like, they’ll throw shit at the bands and stuff. So, when three small teenage Japanese girls go out in front of these people who have no clue who they are, it should’ve ended really poorly, but it didn’t. Within a couple songs, Su, Yui, and Moa had completely won over that crowd and by they time they were finished the crowd was chanting “WE WANT MORE.” That was a game changer for them. If you wanna see a song from that legendary performance, I recommend “Ijime, Dame, Zettai,” which means “No more bullying, forever.” It was the final song of their set there and it is an amazing performance. Yui actually dances so hard that her outfit began to fall apart. Here is a link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKCQkJaYm8mlj6c Edit: also it does kinda suck that we couldn’t see your reaction to the unhelpful BABYMETAL guide as well. We love to see people’s reactions to their non-musical content as well.

Great reaction, Kaitlyn. Even without you saying much while you were watching, it was evident from your smiles how you felt about it. :) On the face of it, Headbanger is about a 15-year-old girl going to her first metal concert and having a blast, but with cultural context and some Japanese wordplay, it goes a little deeper than that to talk about the ephemeral nature of such experiences and how we can't relive them so we should instead carry them with us in our hearts. If you want good analysis of Babymetal lyrics, a guy who goes by Du-metal did unofficial translations of all the songs from their first two albums with excellent cultural context and some analysis on his blog (just google 'Du-metal Babymetal translations' or something), and there's a Shakespeare professor named Andrew Hartley on KZbin who is a fan and has recently started doing some really good videos talking in depth about the lyrics of each song. I would highly recommend checking out both of their takes on Headbanger. It's my favorite Babymetal song for more than just the heavy music, fun choreography, amazing vocals from Su, and great crowd interaction moments.

Surprised I didn't see this in the comments yet: So, the reason why this concert is called Legend of 1997 is because that's the year Su-Metal was born and this concert was pretty much her birthday party. There's even an evolution (if you will) in the concert. The first song was a dubstep version of Headbanger, where Su-Metal lipsync'd the whole track (signifying their roots in J-Pop since, well, that's what they do). The rest of the concert was an usual Babymetal show, where they sang live, but the music was still a backing track (again, that's the J-Pop way), until the last five songs, where the fake band got replaced by the Kami Band. Since then they've played live music all the way (with still a backing track for the electronic parts, though I'm certain that's not just a CD playing but a very alert engineer with a soundboard).

As a sidenote, a lot of Babymetal's earlier discography has references to X Japan (Some more overt than others) Headbanger is more of a general homage to Yoshiki (drummer/pianist/composer of X japan) who often wears a neckbrace. Then you have Akatsuki which is somewhat a homage to Kurenai. And then No Rain no Rainbow which is a reference to Endless Rain.

One of my favorites is a version of this song preformed in 2019. It was Moa Metal's 21st birthday and Su let Moa takeover the lead. You can see her trying to do the death stare, but it's so hard for her to contain her smile. Really heartwarming. Kami is pronounced KA (like the start of karate) and ME. It means divine being, so they are basically called band of gods. If you have not heard of them yet, I would also suggest reacting to Wagakki Band. One thing I would like to point out is the unhelpful guide is a very general "history" of Babymetal. Only big problem with it is that it is also a very slanted, almost male-hating view on their stuff, as is evidenced by the commentator calling all the men who enjoy Babymetal creeps and so forth. Babymetal does not discriminate between men or women, child or adult. Babymetal has even given all of us (us as in fans) a name, which they say is "The One". One song you will eventually want to watch (not yet though, at the very least watch it after you watch the Rondo of Nightmare and Road of Resistance live performances) is called simply, "The One". It was a song written to thank and acknowledge all their fans. To bring us all together as "one". Anyhow, Great reaction as always, Love seeing that smile too, also really like the ... whats it called... eyeshadow? I think it looks really cool!

This song basically has to do with a woman getting initiated to Metal music, and getting the head banging feeling, where their head is out of control and just head bangs to the brutal music. Meh maybe not the greatest explanation.

If you'd like to learn (a lot) more of what's going on in this song I recommend AJ Hartley's awesome analysis of Headbanger: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eH7ShGZtiq-jqNE All of his videos are highly interesting to watch. As are your reactions :)

The song loses its meaning in the translation. In japanese it is called _Hedobangya!!_ and it is a play of words on Headbanger and bangya, being a bangya how it was called a female follower of the Visual Kei genre from the 90s. Visual Kei was a subgenre in japanese metal akin to Hair Metal in the western 80s, the most popular band in that trend was X-Japan. So Headbanger is a song about a girl that goes to her first metal concert on the day of her 15th birthday and she has a blast. It is one of their most played songs live, together with Gimme Chocolate, Megitsune and Road of Resistance. I'd recommend you to watch *Akatsuki* at Black Night next to expand a bit more into what Babymetal is trying a Su solo song. You said you watched the fan guide, well it has some missing things, like the story of the creation of the band. I'll write a little story about it. The story of Babymetal starts in the late 2000s with a guy who loved metal and knew really well about the underground scene in Tokyo. But metal was so small in Japan and the guy had a dream, to make it a big thing reaching new demographics like younger people and women. *Key Kobayashi,* today known as Kobametal, was working in a bakery shop that sold stuff in music festivals. That opened him the doors in the music industry and entered to work in a medium sized label in Japan called Amuse, that used to work with idol girls that were doing J-Pop music. We are in 2008-09, and one of those bands that Amuse managed was Karen Girls, a band of three ~9 years old girls that had a hit that year thanks to a song for an anime, Over the Future. Koba looked at one of those three girls, saw a great talent as a singer and performer in her, but he thought that she had a rough voice that would make it difficult for her to outstand in the pop scene. So as the metal fan he himself was, looked at the girl and thought: _why don't she..._ The next year Amuse started a show where they simulated a High School with idol girls in training to become performers called *Sakura Gakuin.* He convinced the other producers to get that girl on his charge, she was *Suzuka Nakamoto,* Su-chan, Su-metal. They started to write songs for his project inside that program, an after class club for heavy music, and together with Su, Koba took the two tiniest girls in the program to dance around her like little angels (Yui and Moa). And then they called this heavy music club with a funny name, a play of words that sounded like Heavy Metal, *Babymetal.* In november 2010 they performed for the first time in one of the Sakura Gakuin Festivals (Doki Doki Morning), but they had to fight really hard during two years, as the label wasn't giving any money to this crazy guy idea. They had to even borrow the clothes for the girls. But everything started to grow and in 2012 they started to do their first solo shows, making full of hundreds of persons venues and soon thousands. This video, Legend of 1997, was Su-metal 16th years birthday show on december 2013, and was the first show Babymetal did once they went independent from Sakura Gakuin, it was already a crowd of nearly 10.000 people at Makuhari Messe, Tokyo. The next year they jumped to the west and the legend has never stopped to grow, they have become the most succesful band out of Japan ever, they have created this new genre called Kawaii Metal that is still blooming great bands, and they are still kicking ass, past week they just won the MTV Japan best album of 2020 overall for Metal Galaxy. Last bit, we know of the problems with copyright the band has in reactions, so the people on the Babymetal reaction community compiled a list to help reactors find their best performances for every song, that sadly are not in youtube as they get blocked. So if you decide to try the link and sync method, it would be nice to check the songs on the list better, this is the link: docs.google.com/document/d/1DqPsavocgGvCyZfUHvrkgJ5KZMaMkmMgjy2UxNNG96E/edit# Thanks for your video, hope you continue enjoying this journey throught the fox hole.

We're here for your reaction. Don't get too concerned with commentary during the song. Your face says plenty. On the other hand, YOU WATCHED THE UNHELPFUL GUIDE AND DIDN'T FILM IT??? Film ALL BABYMETAL videos you watch. From, The One.

I think you mean Christmas not halloween. The intro and break in the song sounds like Dance of the sugar plum faery. It's the most famous song in the nutcracker. But it does sound creepy so halloween makes sense too. Here is an uninteresting fact about Dance of the Sugar Plum Faery. It was written by Tchaikovsky for the Glass Armonica. The Glass Armonica was invented by Benjamin Franklin based on the sound a wine glass makes when you rub the rim with a wet finger. He made a rotating wheel that had a whole bunch of different glass rings of different sizes that would play the different notes.

Oh, Kaitlyn, anytime you wanna react to BabyMetal BxMxC , recently live in Belgium, would be awesome. No need to pause since it's a fan-made live video from the floor in front of the stage but quite well done, remastered version, kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJuxeXSQdqaEq8k , there is a fairly recent music video for this as well but I think this is great to start off. 🐺

My Song Recommendation would be Rondo of Nightmare with Mischief of Gods Intro : kzbin.info/www/bejne/haecpqGhpM2jZtE The Song is personal to Su about her 15th Birthday and going to her first Headbanger Metal Concert and that her cute persona days are over now 😁 you can watch the musicvideo to this song it visualises that pretty good and when it says Legend 1997 or Legend 1999 that means the Years where Su was born = 1997 and Moa/Yui in 1998 and don't worry we can definitly help you out with the Meaning of their Songs as much as possible to our own knowledge 😊 PS: your facial expression will always say more than a thousand words so don't worry if you are silent pretty much the whole time during the song 😊

#ReactHarder On an more serious note, I welcome you into the Babymetal fanclub. My first vid that i've seen from you. But yes Babymetal has an unique take on every genre in every song. You have Road to Resitance on the speed/glam(?) spectrum, kingslayer on the hard punk spectrum, no genre is safe from Babymetal, they have done some amazing collabs (Sabaton etc.) but personally i'd like to see you react to Megistune @Bodukan
