Awesome reaction Maddy! When this song came out in 1970 it wasn't about Vietnam specifically. The title of the song was changed from Walpurgis (something to do with witchcraft) to War Pigs at the request of the record company. I just love the musicianship and Ozzy's vocals. The lyrics still ring true whatever the band's original intensions.

This is a song where everyone there sings along, they are all part of the song ! Yes, we had a singer, and he sang, but so did everyone else. It is an experience, not just another song to listen to.... I will never hear this song the same..... Geezer Butler wrote the lyrics.......

A bit of history here: the 'war pigs' was a tactic developped by the roman legions against Carthago and their war elephants. Pigs were set on fire and released in order to cause panic and chaos among the elephants. The pigs that did not die by their burns were trampled by the panicking elephants. By extension, a war pig is a soldier sacrificed on the battlefield.

Try to hear the song again without the video. This is just a fan video that made some years ago and mainly distracts you from the excellent musicianship of Black Sabbath. Ozzy wrote that 50+ years ago, but still relevant today. Masterpiece, Black Sabbath & Ozzy in their prime years. Great speech you did after the vudeo--agree 100%. Have a nice day.. yess, Ozzy dropped out in recent years (but he's almost 80 y,old). Some mental issues with years of alcohol & drugs abuse kind of destroyed him. But what he did in the 70's & 80's will remain on internet, so feel free to dig into it.

We need to divide ourselves from those who wish to cause division & those who wish to be divided. In order to coexist we must be on the same page. Those who wish to live in a loving, caring & peaceful society can not live with those who enjoy hatred, violence & war. As much as we would all like to believe in a dystopian world, we have to live in separate places when we are not only on different pages but reading from very different books.

But, "those who enjoy hatred, violence & war" will not tolerate "those who wish to live in a loving, caring & peaceful society". They _crave_ power, via money, and they claw their way to the top of any power structure by any means; violence, deception, cheating, corruption. All of which, they enjoy. At our expense. The conflict between exploiters, and those who simply want to live their lives with their families in peace, has been a never-ending struggle for mankind. We go through cycles as corruption and power accumulation reaches a point of injustice where the masses will no longer tolerate it, a revolution of some kind manifests, then the cycle begins again, where the Evildoers regroup, reorganize, re-consolidate power, and take over. But our masters went to the best schools, and _they_ learned history. They know well and good how the tables will turn against them, and they've planned on how to prevent the masses from coming together. First, _divide_ _and_ _conquer_ , using the media to keep the populace from uniting. Then, develop a censorship regime. That's what the "freedom-loving" "democracies" are doing right now, by co-opting & regulating social media companies, so the public cannot have unauthorized sources of information, and cannot communicate freely amongst themselves. To "protect the children", and "stop misinformation". Then, surveillance systems. Your phone, your car, your TV, your computer. This is better than East Germany and "1984" combined. Then, a militarized police state to enforce compliance. Soon to be made efficient via AI, and without conscience, with drones and robots. We are running out of time. ⌛ 🚫⚖ [speaking of time, how long will this comment stay up?]
