The reason why top self is not the best option for a green horn, is that it's the hottest place in sauna. If not used to it might feel unpleasant. Also sauna etiquette goes, that those in highest bench shout the löyly. This is important to know if you go to general sauna with other people. Also courtesy is, when you go out or come in löyly room you ask from top bench, if they want more löyly. But over all, time formats the ways to have sauna and in time it will come inheritance of your favorite sauna custom. So, it's free to form your own.
