My dad worked on cruise ships for 20 years. He worked on some of the largest in the world - the largest one being the same size as 4 football fields. When those things tilt they TILT. Luckily though it is very rare to experience this kind of situation. In 20 years it only happened to my dad a handful of times. Ships usually are able to outrun any bad weather that would be a danger to the ship. Most that are big enough people wont experience sea sickness on because they are so big and stable. Just remember theres a doctor on board and if you do feel sick go see them and they'll give you sea sickness tablets. The crew are so well trained in dealing with any potential issues on board that 90% of the time passengers arent even aware anything has occurred. There was once a fire on one of my dads ships so bad that one of their 4 kitchens was destroyed and not a single passenger knew about it. Cruises are very very safe - your biggest risk is catching a stomach bug from someone that came on board sick and passed it around.

"Only happened a handful of times " THATS TOO MANY TIMES 🤢🤮 My sisters love going cruises. Not for me. My husband was in the Coast Guard. So he's been in all kinds waves and weather.
@hannahxx177 ай бұрын
@@JD-dh7bk A handful of times in 20 years when hes on board for 10 out of 12 months isnt actually too bad. Most the time they just turn to sea and outrun any bad weather. It mostly happens on smaller ships. Basically go big and dont worry.

The degree of list on the first blue one says its not well designed or balanced. They werent very rough seas - really big waves are bewteen 20, 30 even 40 metres high. But Im only an armchair expert - no way you willl ever get me onto a ship. No way. Floating petri dishes of every microbe known!

I have experienced this. It is both terrifying and exhilarating at the same time. It also gives you huge respect for the ocean and reminds you of your feeble insignificance when staring down a 60foot wave. We were woken by the sound of every plate being smashed in the dining area. The waves were so big the huge propellers were out of the water making the whole ship judder. We were thrown from our beds, I stumbled over to the window to see a huge wall of water that I couldn't see the top of. The bow of the boat was pointed down and it kept traveling down and down and down and I thought - this is it. And then the back of boat hits the water and you are sure it has broken in half. I would would like to say it was a freak wave. But this happened many times on my voyage from Hamburg to the UK. A Force 7 gale was recorded that day. I hope you have a wonderful time. I hear it is very rare to experience this.

I busted my knee and had to have surgery. We were in a cyclone off the coast of cairns. Lucky they have a large stock of vomit bags. Have been on 6 cruise ships and only one was rough

Take some ginger tea bags with you to drink it helps with sea sickness also put one ear plug in your ear to help with sea sickness of you are left handed wear in right ear. If you are right handed wear in left ear. Best advice i was given when cruising and it worked for me

Taking a world cruise segment as your first cruise ever is ballsy! Serenade of the Seas is on the smaller side by today’s standards, but she’ll ride the waves well 🤓 I mean, provided none of what you watched in the video happens… Enjoy your first cruise!

2 things - another channel I watch - Markie - has been covering some of the passengers videos from the cruise you are going on, he has mentioned you and is waiting for you to get on board to share all the tea!! lol He is also talking about possibly going on himself for a short stint. English guy, really nice guy. 2nd thing, it’s not exactly a cruise, but I used to get the ferry from N.Ireland to Scotland, many years ago before cheap flights were a thing, they were big ferries, but the worst crossing I was on, there was vomit everywhere. I mean, everywhere. You couldn’t look in any direction inside the ferry and not see vomit covering the carpet, walls, chairs, plants, everything had fresh vomit on it. Thankfully it was only a few hours trip, but it was the worst I have ever been on! When do you get on the cruise?

My husband and I doing a cruise at the end of the year to New Zealand. I've done the same cruise though it's two times previously and it will be my fifth cruise but it will be my husband's first time on a cruise ship. As I am a total 💩 stirer, and he is nervous, I keep putting clips on the TV like this as well as watching a show called cruise shipkillers, another one about cruise ship disasters etc. Needless to say he's getting terrified. Bahahahahah!!!
