I wish I could actually do cute curly hairstyles. Unless its short, it refuses to behave. I have like, 4 hair types from barely beachwave to really tight ringlets so I usually have to figure out hair styles that hide the wave and hide the ringlets, then the other curls look half decent together with some work
@scarletmorgan20114 жыл бұрын
Just wondering is some of your curls damaged or is it just naturally like that? 🙂
@candiebarr67454 жыл бұрын
@@scarletmorgan2011 bit of both. I've always had really tight ringlets around my neck and looser ringlets or waves (depending on the length) everywhere else. I don't recall ever having anything more than beach waves around my forehead and all the pics I have from when I was a kid I have straight or slightly curved under bangs, but that area of my hair tends to be dryer than the rest of my hair, so no idea. The barely beach waves are definitely damaged though. I suspect from when I pull my hair into pony/pig tails since my hair tends to get tangled in the band/scrunchie and I have a bad habit of just ripping it off. I've been trying to only put them near the end of my hair to avoid too much damage, but its probably going to take a while to get it cleaned up unless I cut my hair off and start over properly. But my hair seems to take forever to grow so I really don't want to if I can avoid it
@TheAstroWitchLux4 жыл бұрын
This might be a stupid comment and please disregard if it is, but maybe you're unintentionally sttetching your hair by pulling it back? Especially if you dry brush your hair or don't style it wet (basically treating it like straight hair whuch eill cause frizz, dryness and stretching out the curls). As you're watching a curly hair video, you probs know how to care for and style curly hair already so I guess you don't dry brush/style, but just in case! Bc when I let my hair air dry in a single braid, the curls can stretch into a looser pattern and are always elongated. It's not an intentional braid out, but it works similarly. My nape hair is more curly while the hair near my forehead is less curly and more prone to frizz if I do this.
@candiebarr67454 жыл бұрын
@@TheAstroWitchLux that might have something to do with it. I got talked into chopping it all off to start over today, so ill keep it in mind. For the last 2 years or so I've been wearing it in a dutch/French braid the majority of the time to try to protect it, but maybe its doing damage instead. Makes sense if I think about. When it grows out longer again, I'll try to avoid french/Dutch braid and see if it helps. I do try to avoid brushing when its dry and just finger detangle, but ill admit I get lazy sometimes and the brush just gets the job done faster. Its something I've been slowly working on improving.

I totally agree with the diffusing method now that my hair is longer. When it was just under my ears I could get away with pixie/scoop diffusing because I didn't use gel to hold my waves in place, but now that it's longer I use the hover and pixie diffuse methods like Swavy Curly Courtney does. I think wavy hair does benefit from pixie and scoop diffusing more than curly hair just because it does help the pattern bounce back, but it all depends on preference.

I got a problem and I need some advice on what I should do. Ok I’m new to this natural hair thing, and I’m starting to embrace the mane and stop straightening; well the hair on the top of my head natural grows forward and falls in my face a lot. And it looks weird when I do a side/middle part. What can I do to fix this or what are some hairstyles that I can do with my hair other that Dutch braids and buns ?
@LanaSummer3 жыл бұрын
You can try training your hair to fall sideways by partining it that way while wet and drying it that way. I hate having my hair in my face so now it naturally grows to the sides. Or you can wear clips or a headband, or any kind of pulled back hairstyle to keep your hair out of your face

Omg my hair kind of looks like the WigginOutbz guy? But I've never done this. And mine looks about as curly as his at the base of my skull and around my ears, sooooo. Maybe I should try his approach. See what happens. 🤷♀️
