Jones didn’t hold anyone to ransom - he got paid what people believed he was worth. He didn’t live up to expectations and lost his job because of it. Several leaders read from scripts, if it’s on a piece of paper or a teleprompter what’s the difference? Elle took a cheap shot, she probably knows she did and has moved on. I respect and enjoy Elle Duncan’s various commentaries re current events in the NFL … I also enjoy the perspectives given by Diana Russini and Mina Kimes (whose podcast I also subscribe to). There are others, such as Kimberly Martin for instance, whose views that I seldom agree with or particularly care for. At the time, it seemed like he would be on the team and benched for the rest of the season so it looked bad that the Giants let him go out and speak with the media, after being benched and announcing their new starter and getting the team ready for their next game. The jokes were bad, but the moment itself (how it was handled and the mess leading up to it) definitely looked like an L that would fit with the title of the segment. She definitely could have done the segment better to make it a little more clear how dumb it all looked from the outside at that time. The Giants could have handled it all better too; done things differently, let Daniel still say his goodbye but also explain - at the time - they were going to release him upon his own request and before officially leaving the team he wanted to say some words to the fans, etc. Instead they announced it all the next day, making the moment less confusing with context, but also still making themselves look foolish with their continued mishandling of the PR. At least this is all how I see the series of events as they played out.

Russ couldn't wait to get out of Denver fast enough. the Broncos also made one of the worst trades whereas DJ was a draft choice. its wildly different in that regard.

If dj was black no one would have had an issue with what elle said. Case in point when that black women clowned cams outfit on get up when he made the statement about game managers vs game changers. Matter of fact, black qbs get slandered on the daily unfairly. See Russell Wilson before going to Pittsburgh. And he's actually won. Funny thing. I didn't see any former white players caring for the black qbs who are judged differently on the regular.
