Australia is almost the same size as America, and our population is only 25 million to Americas 330 million, so that gives you an idea of how uninhabited most of our country is lol.

7:24 Not Komodo Dragons - Goannas. Goannas can grow to about 2.5m long (just over 8ft), compared to Komodo Dragons, which can get to about 3m (10ft). Animals in houses? I don't live in the outback, but even in the suburbs (especially the further out ones where you might have a couple acres) you can get some wildlife. Most places in the world probably have some familiarity with small creatures like spiders and small lizards coming into houses. We also sometimes get snakes in houses - especially carpet pythons. The adults grow to between 6ft and 13ft in length. They are constrictors, so not venomous, but they can give you a tight squeeze! Like most snakes, they will typically leave you alone if you leave them alone.

Haha! Australia is in Eurovision because we have a broadcaster that is part of the EBU. Israel is also in it and not a European country. And Kate Miller-Heidke is a national treasure. Same with Dami Im, and if you haven’t already, you should also check out her Eurovision grand final performance (2016 - Sound of Silence). We’re not getting along so well with China these days 😵💫 I love seeing people who are keen to learn more about Australia though! Awesome!

The second largest "state" in Australia is Queensland, when you look at the map we are on the right, stretching all the way to the top, we have the Great Barrier Reef. You know people say, it is as big as Texas, well Texas fits into Queensland 2.5 times

The "laughing kookaburra" we call it, because when they make noise the sound is like a laugh. They are a giant kingfisher bird. Very cute they are.

Convicts were actually sent to America first until they won their war of independence and then the British about 10 years later started sending convicts to Australia.

Kangaroos are the large buff animals you talked about. They are the males, who ignore humans mainly, and fight other males for the females. They don't come into houses unless they were orphans, who were brought up by humans. The largest roos are the big reds, who hang out mostly in the outback. We have freshwater crocs, pretty much the smallest, could bite off a finger? And the salties are salt-water crocs, which can be 6 metres long give or take a few. These stake a claim on a stretch of a river or beach near the coast and can come up-river and mingle with the freshies, so take care swimming in aussie waters. We have croc hunters who re-locate these huge beasts to save cattle, horses and other livestock, and problem ones causing trouble for people. Some are taken to croc farms. They are very good at hiding, you would never know they were there until too late. That large lizard is a perentie, we also have goannas and a number of small unique lizards all of which are all a lot smaller than the komodo dragon. We have frill-necks, bearded dragons and blue tongues. The capybara is native to south america. Platypus males have poision spikes, but they live in burrows near creeks and usually hunt at night underwater, they are also small and do not attack humans. Hardly ever spotted (seen) anywhere.

The things missing from this video as it was quite brief... -A bit about the cities and states, tourist spots and buildings - Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Darwin, Alice Springs, Hobart -Our national sport AFL (Australian rules football) and cricket (which is played internationally), -Hardly any reference to our unique wildlife and plants - kangaroos, cockatoos, bilby, echidna, platypus, wombats, koalas, frilled lizard, eucalyptus, banksia, kangaroo paw etc that could take videos. -A bit about our politics Edit: As of today 22/05 our current Labor government and prime minister Anthony Albanese -The great barrier reef, the largest living organism on Earth -Ayers rock/Uluru - a sacred aboriginal site -Exports and mining (such as coal, uranium, iron ore and other natural resources) and farming, -Foods (like our meat pie and a couple of other things), -Australia day, Anzac day and other important days, -Some historical figures like Ned Kelly, Harold Holt, C.Y O'Connor -Our music and famous people - ACDC, Hugh Jackman, Margot Robbie, Heath Ledger, The Living End, Midnight Oil, Mel Gibson and more. And a couple of other things.

That 'komodo dragon' is is not a komodo dragon :) Its a Monitor lizard, not sure what species, maybe a lace monitor or a perenti. Cheers from Australia!

We do not Have komodo dragon that is in Indonesia that is a type lizard you seen
@mikeyhau3 жыл бұрын
That lizard would have been some kind of monitor lizard, so it's a distant relative of the Komodo dragon. Australian monitors vary in size up to more than 2 metres (6 ft) long, fairly big but not as big as a Komodo dragon.

The only animals that come inside of my house are the odd bird, spider, possum and one snake. Kangaroos chill out on our front yard at dawn and dusk most of the warmer months. Lots of rabbits and ducks all year round. Sometimes we see the much loved Bin Chicken, they are plentiful in areas north of here but not here in Victoria. Regularly nearly hit Kangaroos and Wombats and Koalas on the road they don't have road smarts. I've hit three Roos over the years, all at highway speeds. Neither come out well.

As an Ausie I also found this interesting, No I live down south on the coast bordering the the sea that separates us from New Zealand, way below Sydney

As in Victoria? And if so... the coast... Lakes Entrance?

That lizard wasn't a Komodo Dragon, it was a Goanna or Monitor lizard. Komodo Dragons don't live in Australia, they live in Indonesia and they are alot bigger.

Australia is a bit larger than the continental 48 states of USA. to give an idea of size, the state of West Australia is roughly equivalent. if imagine a line drawn from Detroit south to the Mexican border. Everything to the left of that line would be West Australia Then imagine the capital city Perth being where Los Angeles is. The rest of the state is very sparsely populated Perth has a population of around 2 million and in the whole rest of the state there’s about 700,000 people. Here’s a fun fact that gets Texans revved up: Texas wouldn’t even qualify as our 4th biggest state

The King Ranch which straddles the border between Queensland and Northern Territory is bigger than Texas!

It’s technically not an island, but a continent because of it’s size. Greenland is the world’s largest island though it’s nowhere near the size of Australia
@greeniemelb3 жыл бұрын
Technically it is an island but then because of it's size it was designated as an island- continent. Then, finally, it came to be called a continent by the experts

I dig this 😊 You should watch a movie called Rabbit Proof Fence. It’s really good. It’s a dramatization of the Stolen Generations, which stemmed from the child removal policy that existed in Australia between roughly 1905 and 1967.

Do you mean the Kookaburra? 'cook-u-burra' it's a bird mate, looks like a bird not a rodent lol.
@sharielane3 жыл бұрын
Nah, he means Capybara. They're a giant rodent (looks like a massive guinea pig) from South America who love water. You can often find pics of them just chilling with other animals, such as crocs along the banks of rivers, which he was referring to.
