That first Sing Off performance is special to me since that was my discovery of Home Free. I love the new version, but a couple things I loved about the Sing Off version is Tim’s rap and then that scoop down to that deep note. I also loved Austin’s riffs. One thing I like about the rap singing in the new version is that both Tim and Austin are rapping/singing together. Makes me think back to the Guilty Pleasure videos where Tim says to Austin that only he is allowed to rap. Lol Oh, and the bass Ben felt in his butt was probably from the low bass scoop Tim did in the breakdown. Lol I do love that they did more verses in the new video. It was loads of fun to see how much they had filming it!

If you look at "Home Away From Home With Adam Rupp" & "Southerner In The Snow" it shows the old vehicle they used but it is a grey tan color & it was a GMC Explorer.

How often do you hear "unison rap"? Or tour Nashville on a scooter? Home Free stormed onto the Sing Off stage with this amazing arrangement, and they are still storming onto stages 10 years later. Both versions are incredible, so it's okay with me that you still vote for the first one. Always enjoy your reactions!

Yep - never forget your beginnings!!! This Sing-Off performance was truly special - it was simple yet dynamic - They were really hungry back then and proved it to the world of their awesome talent that set them far apart from every other acapella group. They've certainly come along way and I'm so proud of them and how far they've come since the Sing-Off. I kinda agree with you QoFy - I'm a bit partial to the sing-off performance - although I like the newer and longer arrangement almost just as much. Keep up the good work my friend! Thanks for the double feature! I like Tim's bass part on the "Sing Off'. But other than that I like the redone version better with them doing the whole song. Loved the video too showing the guys upgrading to different trucks. It is like their journey as a group. They upgrade all the covers they do. These guys just keep getting better & better & how handsome they all look!

I LOVE this version and love that they left Adam's "Come on" in just like the Sing Off. So glad to see they let Adam take a turn at driving since in an interview when asked the question "Who would you trust the most to drive the bus" they all answered "anyone but Adam" lol

I am with you on the Sing Off performance !!! A live audience adds to the energy of their performance, that why their concerts are so Amazing !!! I could not believe that they could actually be better live than a recorded version, but it is true. Maybe not every song, but plenty of them. Notice only Chance in the group can drive manual gear shift a la the little blue Ford van. Chance grew up on a farm driving gear shift tractors so good for him. As soon as the upgraded automatic truck came on scene, they were all over the driving.

Love it! I really enjoyed the Sing Off performances but I also love the versions they are putting out now. Then for the excitement of hearing them for the first time and now because of how much they've grown. Thanks for the Home Free reactions

You know I don’t mind that QOFY. I miss Tim’s low parts on the Sing Off. They kinda muted it a bit in this one. Otherwise this was good. Loved them upgrading the vehicles! Adam was crazy good in this! 😍🥰

Love this video - like the vehicles, Home Free just keeps up-grading! The singing & harmonies are terrific and Adam has once again outdone himself. They all look terrific too! I keep wondering who the man is in the brown baseball cap at the back of the party bus?? Anyone know? They knew the judges were impressed by the bass & high power tenor so they played those up on the Sing Off.

I agree. The sing off version was simpler and I think the vocals shone more. Like both. After all, it is HOME FREE!

I can see the charm of the original from the Sing Off. Sometimes their studio versions can sound too polished and flat. I mean flat in sound variation. Like sometimes they will pull back Tim's bass like in the beginning of Skull & Bones, so you can hear Chance sing lead. But everyone likes the live version better. They usually pull back Rob's voice because his voice projects more than the others, especiallyin his lower register. Probably because of his operatic training. Amongst other things. They are doing what they are supposed to do so I don't think there's any way around it. You don't want someone to over-power the others in the studio recording. By no means to I think it sounds bad because they are amazing, but I see the difference. There is something special about a live performance.

I agree with you. I like what they have done in upgrading this, but I think on this one I still like the Sing Off version best. There was an energy there born of of hunger but also the uncertainty of success. They have proved to the world now their talent and skill, but then who knew, not even themselves. That level of anxious anxiety certainly came out in their performance on their very first song on the Sing Off.

I'm with you! I absolutely LOVE The Sing Off version and it's my favourite out of the two as well. It doesn't mean the remake isn't amazing, but I love the fun and excited energy, the higher octave, Austin's riff, Tim's bass part, and just everything about the "original cover". One the reasons why I don't like the FGL original is because it has a monotone aspect to it and I think HFs new rendition picked up that part, but The Sing Off version doesn't, it feels alive.

It's taken me a while to come around on this one. I wish Tim had been more prominent in the mix during the rap section. I did miss him having that as a solo. It was nice to get a cover of the full song, though.

I did not know the sing off version untill now, but I am with you here - like the sing off version better. In comparison, the new arrangement, even if perfectly balanced, seems somewhat 'bland' - full sound, no edges. Only exception is the unison rap part - that was really good in the new arrangement. And the video was fun... these guys are just so relatable. They are always fun to watch.
