I grew up listening to John Denver's songs. But I feel Home Free took this one to another level for me. It is one of my favorite covers of this song. I love everything about it. It is a masterpiece. Home Free is my favorite a cappella group hands down.

This arrangement had been in the works a long time as they really wanted to do the song justice and honor John Denver. It is one of the most beloved songs out there and they did it justice. I will always love the original but I love this version just as much I think. Just so soulful.

There are so many favourite moments of Home Free concerts with this song. During their 2018 Euro tour, before they released this, they played the John Denver original as part of their warm-up music. It was the last song played before they're supporting act, Jeffrey East, walked out on stage and the audience made a thing out of singing along to it, loudly. It must have made them feel so good knowing this was in the works already, hearing their European fans already knowing and loving it. During the 2020 tour, the one that was cut short because the pandemic kicked off, they did this live and let me tell you the audience sang along with them. We love singing along with our favourite songs and artists over here, in Sweden there's actually even a summer TV show where it's a thing - it's been going on for decades. The guys absolutely loved it, as they always do when we sing along. You always have great reactions, this was no exception. Thanks, girls! 🥰🙏

Peter Hollens and Adam Chance were nominated for this same song as best country song by the Contemporary Acapella Recording Awards. The winners were announced last week. Long Black Train by Chris Rupp and Tim Foust was the winner. How great that both Tim and Chance were nominated!

John Denver's version is obviously the classic. Chance's version with Peter Hollens is lovely and has a modern feel. But Home Free's version is still my family's favorite--hands down! Besides the unbelievable harmonies, getting to hear Adam Rupp's sweet tenor actually singing is such a great treat ❤️🎼🥰🎶❤️

They've been silent for a few years now but there used to be a youtube channel from Germany (dosbananas) that reacted to Home Free a few times. They said that Take Me Home Country Roads got SUUUUPER popular in Germany. So much that whenever it is played, pretty much any German nearby is going to sing along.
