The problem is the exact same thing could be said about EA. They have millions of fans (and customers), it would be crazy not to make a good football game. Oh wait... And you might say "but 2K has to win the customers, they don't have 'em yet" and in that regard I agree, they'll probably try harder on the first football game they make. Not so sure about the rest. The real issue with football games is they tend to split the community into different communities (EA FC, 2k Fifa, PES, efootball, UFL) that don't actually compete with each other, as games. Which means that while we have multiple football games to choose from, they don't actually get better, because they have enough of their own customers not to worry about the other football games taking away their customers, because their own product is less than good.

I think the main issue with this game and new games in general is that they try to balance realism and arcadey-ness. I feel like they can only go one way if they want the game to somewhat succeed. IMO making the game more arcadey is what would make this game fun. Not stupid realism which means there’s 1000 animations for every type of pass and slowing the game down like it’s real life. issue with defending and pace is that AI Defenders will catch up so fast and get back in the box is crazy, and all you need to do is just switch and tackle from behind (which is not even supposed to work). I can accept if you select particular defender and try to catch up and tackle then yeh sure fair play. But whole defense line including midfielders get back in the box so fast you can't build up the attack

The good days where you looked at the face of the card, saw stats and had an idea of what areas the player is good at. Now you have players with 90+ stats but if they do not have certain playstyles, they are good for nothing. Sorry in advance for the long post...it is about inconsistent gameplay so hopefully you'll read it ;-) About the inconsistent gameplay - I agree 100% with what you are saying but I was wondering if it is not coming from a misinterpretation on our side. I am a casual player so not the best player - but I have been developing complex systems for a long time. This issue is actually quite interesting to me from just a system design...as I would not be able to replicate something like that... Define inconsistent gameplay: the same players in the same formation do not feel or perform the same way depending on when you play. The most obvious things: left stick dribbling, passing and movements - basically getting no attacking AI, no runs... This happens online and offline - i.e. in SquadBattles - I have a very good internet connection, ping is always around 25ms with 1G download / 300M upload - so at its core, it cannot be a server or a connection problem. Not saying that these are perfect, but they are probably not the root cause. Let's call stats more generally whatever will define the player ability in this game: roles, playstyles, body type, etc. to keep it simple... The way I am starting to look at it is the following: what if the player stats are actually only RELATIVE, i.e. the behaviour of your players will depend on the players (and formation?) you are facing. For example, your 90 Att. position would not be an absolute number defining how well your striker can move regardless of the opposition - your striker movement/ability/feel in the game will actually depend on his stats AND the stats of the defenders you are facing. So basically if you face a very good team - your players are effectively being downgraded - it feels like they run slower, dribble less precisely, do not make runs, etc. The next game the opposition is weaker and now your players feel much better...and that feels completely inconsistent if you look at this expecting players to perform according to their stats in an absolute way...
