I think I went a bit far with my theories, at the end of the day this was my favorite song from all of the releases so far (Not counting the full album) and I think that the Black Swan references kind of influenced my thoughts on the visuals of this MV. All in all, this was incredible!

I also saw references to the choreography of Black Swan, Not Today, and their Butter Grammy performance. The reverse fight scene threw me off too 😊 so at one point I thought that the MV storyline might be better understood in reverse? 😅 Anyway, I enjoyed your reaction as always 😊

I wouldn't say you went too far because if there is one thing, I've learned from watching BTS's MV's, it's that there is ALWAYS more than just the sound, or the lyrics, or the scene...they are true storytellers. Their presentations allow that you can either take the time to 'hear' what they are saying, or you can just appreciate the surface of what makes them so darn special. That's always been their gift to ARMY. (Take what you need from us to feel validated - and we do.) RE: Black Swan... Their MV was actually related to the movie The Black Swan, which was about a ballerina and it's quite an interesting....ride. Like a roller coaster ride.... ups and downs, and wild jerks that take you by surprise right up to the ending.... So, if you've not seen it you should, and then come back and watch BTS's MV once more....I think you'll be very interested in how the pieces fall together for you after that. There is something about BTS's art that always demands it should be viewed... three or four times before you develop a solid opinion, because there is SO much going on, that it's easy to miss things, and each time you re-watch, you pick up something more. (It's really THE reason I watch reviews such as yours...I know there are things I will not have picked up. Nuances, allusions, foreshadows.... and then one of you will just drop some bomb on me and I will sit back and be..... 'huh' dam that's right...well lookie there... I found 'Standing Next to You' to be breathtaking, and so unexpected. You're right that it's a reflection of him coming to terms (or making the viewer) come to terms with his having matured into an exquisite man of great depth and immense feelings. I could easily see an acting career in his future if he ever wanted one...He is so darn expressive, relatable, and believable. Great review - thanks - St@nce

Anybody that’s an army and knows jungkook knows that boy can sing the phonebook and captivate anyone listening lol nobody actually thinks he needs features… it’s just the only argument insecure fans use to explain why he’s more successful than their faves lmao everyone can see the star quality that oozes from jungkook no matter what he’s singing lol I remember he sang something in Korean about food and we didn’t know what he was singing about and everyone thought it was some popular gorgeous k ballad bc of the emotions and gorgeous way he was singing it on a live …. Turns out he was singing stuff like “I love my food, I can’t wait to eat it, it’s going to be so delicious….” Blah like that… but that sounded like a heartbreak ballad bc of how he was singing it so dramatic and authentic. I loved your reaction and I dont know the deeper meaning but Jungkook doesn't do things without meaning. He is the passion man of BTS - so he wouldn't dive into something without it being meaningful to him. I'm just super happy and proud of him. He is just on another level. I loved that you took it that far! You're the first I've seen do that and I really appreciate it. The wings could be Black Swan reference, or could also be from Blood, Sweat and Tears as well. Either would work in the meaning of this song. It's my favorite on the album, though there are other songs I really, really enjoy too.

I think that the beat has influences (tribute?) from Earth, Wind and Fire, MJ (of course), Queen, and Bruno Mars. He's beautiful, but with that whhite shirt (made me think of Vincenzo - Kdrama) he's simply stunning! It seems that he was the only one who didn't accept his shadows on Black Swan, well... now he did it!

This should have been the first release. His 'set me free' anthem. This is incredible. This is so uniquely him. So many references to BTS!!! I loved that part, personally. And, I love the MJ vibes. This is intense. I hated Seven. Not just the lyrics but it was immature. 3D was screwed up by Harlow. JK never should have had feature artists that are NOWHERE as good as him. This should have been the song that marked his career. I'm sad it won't be because of Seven. But, yeah... This is a mature JK.

Loved this and it's such a relief to have a song and MV that's just Jungkook showing us how he shines. Seven and 3D were not my favorites because of the US rappers--they slowed things down and were a little gross besides. Sex itself was never the issue: after all, JK is definitely talking about sex here, and it's great. Thank you for bringing some organization to my mental confusion about what was going on. I don't think that you were over-analyzing--those were definitely call outs to DNA and Black Swan that helped explain what we were seeing. Funny--all of you folks are seeing Michael Jackson--I think he's channeling Antonio Gades, the great flamenco dancer. Maybe it was those gorgeous shoes. Thank you for pointing out the references to BTS songs. The tunnel seems to be in Run. Other references that I have seen include Black Swan, DNA, Not Today, Fake Love, Blood Sweat and Tears, Dynamite, Butter, PTD, Left and Right, Seven, 3D (his opening walk), and Golden…I think the girl could represent the ARMY too, when he said they can’t deny their love, and then seemingly breezed through the past BTS dance choreos…. That is just my interpretation.

Thanks for your reaction as always! I almost cried with this. THIS was what I wanted to see from him. Dont get me wrong: I like Seven and 3D for me is okay. And I supported both, streamed, I love Jungkook as an artist and person BUT when I imagined his solo, I wanted focus on his powerfull voice, his dance, the mv. Seven and 3D for me was so much "I hate, I love" and people fighting if the colabs were good or bad, that Jungkook and his work was "just a part of" the song, you know what I mean? This song is so "look at him, listen to him, listen to THIS". I always wanted this kind of vibe. The album too. Finally I feel "Jungkook's solo era", so yeah, I almost cried. I dont know the meaning behind it but some ARMYs were find similarities between this mv with the 90's movie "Romeo and Juliet" (with Leo Di Caprio). If you read the lyrics, I think it's a good theory.

I was taken off guard by Seven as a BTS stan for like 8 years (baby JK era 🥲) but I have grown to like it. JK is Hot and he knows it lol. But I think Jack Harlow's lyrics are gross and I think it was an oversight to OK them. HOWEVER I am loving every other song on this album so that's making up for it. I’m so so proud of Jung Kook! There are no words that can adequately describe the talent that was displayed in this video. He took my breath away. It’s even more amazing that he did this in perfect English! He’s been wanting to be seen as a grown man, and this MV successfully accomplished that. He was sensual, sexy and beautiful. I loved Seven and 3D, but felt that the crude adolescent lyrics, especially those delivered by the featured artists, diminished the quality and sophistication of the songs. Here, he sounds like a real MAN who is ready to love, respect and commit to a WOMAN! JK has grown up!
