The Tree sentinel is the basic rendition of the typical From soft boss and yes anyone bull headed enough would eventually beat him, but as much as he is difficult, Margit the Fell Omen is actually the boss that teaches this lesson of forgetting one's pride best as he is far closer to a more atypical early game encounter. One who ducks and weaves, extends combos as needed and forces almost anyone to find more unconventional ways to fight him. Effectively the sentinel is the entry exam. Margit is the final exam. Beat both and you're ready for anything this games tries to throw at you. Also take no shame on this mate, I actually ran into Margit before I fought the Tree sentinel and both times was vastly under equipped. Everyone just needs to tether their progress on their preparedness and determination to learn, adapt and overcome.

I can't remember who, but I recall someone looking at the Tree Sentinel and saying, "Better fight this tutorial boss!", Dying a dozen times, then saying, "This tutorial is on How to Flee in Fear." and just running.
