Jungkook will be absent for 1 1/2 years for military duties. There are so many great active kpop groups, and more waiting to debut; not to mention artist of other ethnicities who are topping global charts. Only time will what the music climate will resemble in 2025. Hopefully ARMY will remain loyal to the finish and keep BTS on top collectively and individually.

That does not negate the fact that they have won scores of Asian accolades, and the first to win several American/European awards. I don't think It's fair that some America award shows are creating k-pop categories, rather than allowing them to compete with American artist.

The dance crew lovingly goes by the Golden Boys. Brian has been there since the start. I'm older so I get your Usher love. I dont feel like such a big dance collab has happened. Many people collab for songs. Usher danced with MJ and that hasn't happened in Kpop before. And we all know the influence of MJ on Kpop. Its a really big deal. The best was the dancers themsleves freaking out over getting to dance with Usher. Ian wrote a wonderful note anout it. I am a JK bias. Its the fierceness in the way he performs and the hardness of his dance moves. He has a quality of movement in his hips that is crazy. 😘💜🫶🏻🫰🏻

I think why JK's album is in all English - JK is looking to become a global pop superstar, not just a Kpop superstar. For the others, yes they want international fans to listen come along, but it's not quite the main reason. Others like Namjoon are kind of caught in a dilemna. He was the one that talked openly about being disappointed in the direction that BTS took after Dynamite (especially since he also was the one that spoke in the past about BTS never releasing an all-English track - and they did three big ones.) But in JK's case, he's after global domination.

Nah, Namjoon was never disappointed in English songs, He was questioning what BTS's identity was and if the fans would be disappointed in them if they continued with that route. Language was never the problem. As he said in the Festa they have always been a different group from others who speak about mental health and self-love.👍

Umm, this is an interesting reaction...Usher is a legend who is my contemporary (46), Usher wasnt trying to learn the full choreography, he has his own style. The behind the scenes was very revealing and funny. OT7 has said they grew up loving and admiring Usher. Not an RnB fan, but the amount of influence Hip Hop and RnB have on BTS music is significant, so that's very interesting

I would say the Psy-Snoop collab on Hangover was pretty iconic (no one was expecting that) 9 years ago. Btw, Usher just finished a 100-show residency at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

As someone who also wasn’t that into kpop to suddenly discovering BTS a couple years ago and becoming a hardcore ARMY, I relate to this hard!! So happy to see Phil starting to get into BTS as well :) and for me it’s so cool to see the worlds colliding of watching Wong Fu since I was younger to now watching BTS with you as an adult!

HYBE decided that with JK’s demographics based on WV lives and merch sold, they can tell where each member’s fans are, they would market international fans which is why the album was all in English. He promoted in the UK a day US for a reason. HYBE knew where and how they would sell the most music for each member. Remember, JK is the only KPop artist that drew in 16 + millions live fans on his WV live. I am a proud Asian and feel that finally, in my life time, an Asian artist topped Billboard hot 100 (not counting Psy bcz his songs were comedic and drew laughter instead of true Pop and not just Kpop).

Jungkook is performing R&B choreography (emulating Michael Jackson, Usher, Chris Brown). Usher is 45 years old and has been dancing for decades. This is not Usher's best dance performance. Although both guys in the video are fire.

Maybe it's my age (64 - yeah, I've been watching Wong Fu for a long time 😂), but I went to watch the video so I'd have some reference. I don't listen to a lot of new music so I didn't know anything about Jungkook's album. When I first heard him singing it really sounded like very early Michael Jackson when he separated from the brothers. I wasn't thinking about Justin Timberlake at all. Jungkook seems to dance much more like Michael as well. He's got that ease of movement that looks effortless. Usher, to me, has always been more athletic in his dancing so on that level while he can still put the moves out, they are heavier steps in presentation. Jungkook seems so much more fluid in movement. That's one thing I missed when I left Twitter after Elon walked through the door. The BTS fandom used to stand up for the good things in life like equal rights for women, democracy; things like people being kind and helping one another be the best they can be. When they would post their opinions we'd always get videos of different performances in their posts. I miss getting to see all the different k-pop groups' music and styles of performing on the fly. I hope some of the BTS fandom will come over to BlueSky social. It's a much better Twitter. They're still working on the mechanics of it, but I love the feel and energy there.

I can't blame you if you're a Jungkook bias....he is the one who made me interested in BTS to start with. I'm so bummed that he was truly at the height of his career and had to leave for the military and I already miss him (and all of them) so much. Usher took a 10 yr hiatus and just lately in the past 5 yrs, returning slowly. This is not a collab, this is a remix. Like Megan the Stallion with Butter Remix and the 3 J's made a choreo. REMIX is NOT COLLAB. Universe with Coldplay is a collab. Taeyang with Jimin is a collab. Charlie Puth with JK is a collab. This is Jk's song, it's made for him and he sang it and had a MV. Usher just got injected by invitation, and I agree, he has his groovy move. Unless JK gave Usher permission to sing it in the Superbowl, I won't watch it, I hope he does not. I'm OT7, leaning towards Jin.
